I would love HTML and CSS to be enabled in posts. So then I and others can do tables!

Couldn't HTML code in posts provide an avenue for spammers, hackers and exploits, though?
(If a forum post's code alone could cause someone's browser to execute a malicious bit of Javascript, for example.)

I thought it was a security measure though I don't see the point of it. Any way it does not stop people. You just end up with posts with lots of good info that could do with better formatting.Flash wrote:I think the forum software is deliberately limiting, to discourage people from making large posts.abushcrafter wrote:I would love HTML and CSS to be enabled in posts. Is it possible to enable child threads by some of our very long thread owners?
Purpose would be to sub out separate issues, perhaps
e.g. this comment to mavrothal
Giving rise to XOpup 1, child[ren?] as XOpup2/3/4 etc
I'm sure others such as ttuuxxx's 214X thread could've done with it, and jemimah's and a few others, too
Just a thought....

Reading the entire thread for a particular issue would take quite a long while . The title of the posts should make it clear that they relate to XOpup running on the OLPC. What do you think?....

The point is that I can not really scan this huge forum for XOpup. Was fortuitous that found this

I love this smiley, can you add it to Forum?
Found it on Dutch quadricycles forum which runs in Linux, their code dog4949 and further nowhere else on the web.

Spam reporting
Google this: Attention: If you find mistakes in our website, please select the incorrect data and press "CTRL + ENTER".
Could be a much easier way to report spam? Or just a clickable button.

reasonit: Would the "View posts since last visit" link near the top of the main forum index help, somewhat?

print / flat view
Puppy forum is a true goldmine but finding the gold is becoming harder and harder specially with threads exceeding 3-4 pages, that a lot of times are the most valuable.
Searching either with the forum engine or external sites is not getting the desired results a lot of times, too.
I find very handy (in other forums) to be able to print a whole thread flat as a "text.html" file to decrease the size and then just search with the browser "find" command.
I do not know how this taxes the server and the bandwidth, but if is not too much, please implement.
(sorry if this issue was brought up before... couldn't find it in this 20 pages thread )

Thanks for the pointer Jasper!Jasper wrote:Hi mavrothal,

Wouldn't it be nice if this functionality was built in the forum though instead of the work arounds?
(Not to mention the size difference of the original pages vs the "print" version)

I have a suggestion!
If you find yourself getting heated with someone's posts to you, try this,
Go to memberlist and type your username, go to 'find all posts by....'
Open a new tab and do the same for the person you are chatting/having difficulty with
Compare styles/languages/culture, even, see if you can tell how old they are, of if male or female, and see whose 1st 10 posts you think a wider audience would see as helpful, and friendly
Nooby suggested cutting some slack....here's my list offered in openness
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/search ... thor=Aitch
Compare with yours, maybe, and see what you think

Aitch I certainly appreciate all the slack you have given to me.
I appreciate the slack that Bruce have given to me too.
Shariebeth also has treated me in a fair way. Maybe I was unfair to her.
Such is not easy to judge about one self. If you and others feel badly treated by me then I do apologize. I trust all of us do the best to our capacity to handle things.

I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though
not an ideal solution though
I get what Aitch is suggesting.....i was thinking, reading what appeared to me to be a rather negative post on another thread a few minutes ago, that if nationality/native language was added to member profiles as a mandatory field, more tolerance and less misunderstanding might prevail.
Of course, if someone's a deliberately aggressive or inflammatory troll, that's a different kettle of fish entirely.

I'm guessing that's when the forum software takes you back to the thread you just posted on, would that be right, aarf?Flash wrote:Aarf, I've never seen that, but then I've never used Dillo. Where was it the author wanted you to go after 3 seconds?
