This claws-mail-3.5.0 dotpet package is compatible with Puppy 4.0 and probably Puppy 4.1. Thanks to raffy, it's available for download here -
http://minipc.org/ipup/download/claws-mail-3.5.0.pet

It's an update of earlier Claws-Mail packages I compiled for Puppy 2.x and 3.x here -
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=26598

Claws Mail is a fork of the email client Sylpheed. It has a few more features than Sylpheed, but remains a relatively small application.

As before, this version has been compiled with the libetpan libraries for IMAP4 remote mail access, plus the aspell libraries for spellcheck support, plus the libcompface library for X-Face image support.
Just the English dictionary is included in the package, but it's possible to obtain other language dictionaries from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict/0index.html
Then you will need the developer tools (devx) to install these other dictionaries.
And it may also be necessary to install the claws-mail locale files (I'm not sure) -
http://minipc.org/ipup/download/claws-m ... ocales.pet
Instructions for creating and using a compface image are here -
http://www.claws-mail.org/faq/index.php ... e_image.3F
The "gif2xface.pl" perl script is provided in this package.
A little further down that page are instructions for creating a Colour Face header, too.

This Claws Mail package has the standard plugins; trayicon and dillo-viewer.
It also has the bogofilter and spamassassin plugins, but these require corresponding libraries.
I have provided the bogofilter library here -
http://minipc.org/ipup/download/bogofilter-1.1.7.pet
The compilation of SpamAssassin was too complex to bother with.

I have provided a ClawsMail icon suitable for the desktop, at
/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/claws-mail48.png

There are some extra plugins here which I did not compile:
http://www.claws-mail.org/plugins.php?section=downloads

It's possible to compile Claws Mail with support for encrypted email via the GPGME library, but I did not enable this feature.

seems like the bogofilter doesn't work for me. Every time I restart claws I get the message bogofilter needs to learn spam.
I have already received 100's of spam, so it should work.

Is it a bug, or am I doing something wrong? If there is a better client I'm also interested. I need a working spamfilter though,

Hope someone can answer this...

Directions can be found Here

It seems you'll have to do your part in helping it "learn".

Yes, I know it needs to learn. That is the most frustrating thing about it. I have 350 spam messages in my trash folder and still claws doesn't recognizes any junk at all..

You're choosing "spam or ham" for these emails?

Yes I do. After selecting the spam button they are put in my trash folder and identified with a junk icon.
I have used it before without problems (not with Puppy that is..)

It works for you?

I know very little about bogofilter, but there's some information here -
http://www.claws-mail.org/faq/index.php ... ofilter.3F
It seems that the plugin method is easiest, but you may need to check the configuration in Preferences > Plugins... > Bogofilter
... especially the "Save spam in" field.
Refer attached image preferences.jpg

And if the plugin method fails then there's another method which involves creating a filtering rule and two actions.

If you want 3.60 for puppy 4 series install this one
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/ ... 0-i386.pet
sadly thats the end of ssl for claws mail, the other versions 6.1-7.1 uses gnutls which isn't in puppy by default. so This is the last one which will work out of the box without a upgrade to gnutls.

PS this version is the one in 4.2 rc4, Its a no frills version, well I did give it a custom theme, I used parts from 2 other Claws Mail themes :)
If your missing anything like enchant, just tell me and I'll post the package. because spellcheck does work on 4.2 rc4 well it should when its released :)
