You seems to take a project that will lead to many problems for a newbee.

See MOST of Puppy are build with the intention to be Simple in use. So for most of the task you simply come here ask for the Pet or SFS that provide that solution and some one point you where you can find such a package. Usually you get your pet od SFS and live happy ever after.

But such luck is not found always. So quick answer ask here where you can get such pet/sfs for your Puppy.

Now there will be time where those pets are old or you can not find them. And you will be tempted like you just did to use Terminal and use regular Ubuntu/Debian commands. Let me tell you that Most Puppy are not build for such actions.

Third for terminal it will depend on your Puppy. Most Puppy use roxterm, but there is lxterminal, urvt, xterm, uxterm. So Open your Menu and search for one of them. This is a nice exercise you should do. Try and learn.

But as a newbie trying to get involved in installing a huge and complex program like Kodi thru the use of Terminal it is a REAL Complex HARD task.

I do not know anyone my self. But Kodi/XBMC was very popular a few years back. I bet you there is a Puppy with build in OLD Kodi/XBMC.

Did you see a large black icon with >_ symbols on the top toolbar? Then click it!
Or
Click Applications on bottom left corner. Then Utility. Then LXTerminal
Or
Click Applications on bottom left corner. Then Run. pRun program will start and you will see list of puppy programs. Find LXterminal, rxvt or urxvt and double click it

What specific Puppy version you using?

You need a download manger to specifically do what?

If you are looking at installing something using terminal commands.
What specific commands are you talking about?

But it is really better, if you can find a pet package or deb package, for the program.
