Google Chromecast and Bionicpup64 with Google Chome

#1 Post by ndujoe1 »

I have discovered that the puppy firewall is thorough.

When it is ON it blocks the Chromecast device and my Google Chrome cannot see it.

When i disable the Firewall it of course sees the device. But I don't wish to turn off everything.

So, if I find the ports of access that the Google Chromecast device prefers, can I specifically open up those ports in the firewall? And if so how do I tell the firewall to do that?

Check out Peasy Firewall Monitor. It handles this situation by creating a Trusted LAN.

Thanks, I found a simpler solution by trial and error.

I discovered that if I turn off the firewall just for a moment then let it find the device and then turn it on again. Everything works. It is not often that I engage the Chromecast so I will leave it at that.
