The new monitor connectors will be available now that VESA has ratified the DisplayPort (DP) 1.4 standard.

Thus you will be able to daisy-chain up to 3 monitors together connecting to 1 PC interface.

This standard, the current DP connector on video cards, and the latest technology from Intel for driving monitors over a "proper" USB port, it is still up in the air as to how the monitor/TV manufacturers will arrive at a consistent connection approach. There will be some interesting options available for consumer/business users. The DP standard, the USB-C standard and their relationship. that is surfacing in the new PCs we buy, is described here.

Cheers!

IIRC, @StemSee did a "very" interesting project last year where he used 1 PUP PC to drive 2 monitor-keyboard-mouse so that 2 people could be working simultaneously for whatever each's needs were. Extending his work means that 3 people could be working at the same time on 1 PC such that each has their own monitor-keyboard-mouse.

Just 1 of many ways the new technology offers potential uses.
