Nice gposil. BTW, if you want to "clear screen" why not remove drive icons too? Drive icons manager in desktop menu has possibility to turn them off.
Or are they intentionally left on?

dejan555,

I left the drive icons intentionally, if people want to turn them off the tool is already available.

Geez i'm tempted to put IceWM in beta5......what to do.....
Do what makes you happy.
A compromise might be a 'Transmogrify desktop' button (or similar)
in the control panel that allows a diversity of IceWM coolness . . .

Another possibility is a ready made Icewm sfs (the sort of thing Technosaurus may well be planning for 4.4)
We did have an ezpup sfs - maybe Warren can be persuaded to revive
that?

You are doing good, adding two more thumbs up to Ttuuxxx's

Very nice icewm package ttuuxxx, I think bluemat neeeds a bit bigger fonts in menu according to icewm taskbar height.

Why not iwewm, eh? This iso will only be another beta; it's not as if it absolutely has to look like an "official" :) Puppy... (Said the devil!)
(I wish there was an angel icon, too!)

I'm certainly seconding shankargopal in those thanks.

I imagine this little movie:
I'm now getting the dogs and sleigh ready... I take a long gaze toward the mountain, waiting for the pile of CD's to be delivered and gposil's "Mush!" In the nearby community, for good luck, the Elders are passing the peace-pipe around those assembled. The ancient drums will beat their steady beat until tomorrow night... :) The camera pans the scene, then there's an American shot (torso and head) of gposil at his computer putting the final touches... :) Then a close-up of hands typing at keyboard... :) Then the camera freezes over a ultra close-up of the tip of a finger over the Enter key. There's a feeling of suspense palpable among the audience... :)

Overnight.

If you don't already have it on a liveCD somewhere,

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
I have downloaded and burned the CD and did run the test.
Now I have a bad day.

On one address I have a single bit error.
I did put the 256MB memory module in the other slot and I have the problem on the same memory location with the same bit.
So is this memory module useless now?
Should I replace it?

I run different and a lot of things and don't see any problems.
I don't know if it's ECC memory, but I don't think so.

Well, lets put it this way. If you have a bad memory location, and you want to live with the uncertainty of it, and the problems it will certainly cause you, you shouldn't report test results to any development effort whatsoever. Because your test results must be disqualified.

Well, I am already looking how much a replacement module could cost and go for more then 256MB.

Thank you for the tip.

On the other hand, I have the same problem on my Medion MD8818.
I'll run a memory test as well.

On Dpup 4.8.2 beta 4, try this and tell me if it is a bug.
Navigate to any man directory that contains a man page.
I will use xmahjongg as an example.
I cannot remember for sure if it is an included game or not.
But when I open a terminal and type "man xmahjongg", I am taken online to die.net with file not found.
So this problem with the man command seems to be more widespread than I thought.

Also, the menu bar at the top of the desktop overlaps the desktop icons so the desktop icons either need to be moved down or the menu bar needs to be relocated.
These are just my brief views of what I saw when booting a frugal install with a pupsave file from beta3.

As a followup on the man script problem and how to remedy it, I am submitting my modified man script. This should make the man command work correctly.
Just uncompress the file and copy or move it to /usr/bin.

man.tar.gz
Replacement for man script in /usr/bin. As with any script file feel free to examine it first.

That's wbar, it now has a configuration program to control its position, and other attributes. It won't start up in the official later version, you will add it as an option -- and presumably will know what it is if you do, and how to orient it.

Theres a wbar config program located back somewhere like 10 pages ago in this thread -- if you add that you can turn it off or relocate it.

I was just thinking yesterday, we have the "pet_packages-5" directory sitting virtually empty at ibiblio.org. So, that could be a home for Dpup PET packages. I won't manage uploading to it though -- Gposil or someone can have ftp access to it.
This will work beautifully as we will have no problem adding the repo simply to PPM. I'll get it organized after beta5 release...

Cheers
