That being said maintainers are very hard to find here.

Sorry for the delay in responding.....The method I used on the amateur radio stuff was to enlist the aid of folks who had the interest and knowledge to enter the data. The downside was that they might enter something that was not correct....and when it happened, the community let us know.
That might not work with software, since there may be more egos involved than in other areas.
If there were folks that would volunteer, the software allows for selected users to act as editors.

Is the Puppy PetStore vaporware?
It has been a while, and even though the site with type selection has been up for a while, I have seen no progress as to posting links to pets in any of the type selection areas.
From what I could see, the type links are there, the directories they are supposed to point to are not.

As i read, the exact purpose of this site is to have some kind of website which shows all the packages in the repos
What say you?

Sorry for the delay ... first post I made to answer you was not saved by the forum software(happens a LOT on this forum)
The database in use is setup for sfs files ... it could and should be modified to allow the listing of sfs, pets and repos .... especially those that are not listed in the existing file libraries. Changing the structure and fields is not a trivial chore, but it can be done.
I know how many hours I spent on finding things that would work with my acer laptop....I knew what Puppy base and kernel would work....but determining which derivatives used exactly what I needed a lot of searching and burning Live-CDs, only to find yet another one that didn't work.
If a database had entries that listed derivatives with the Puppy Base and kernel, it would have made my search, and others with similar issues a lot easier.
I am more than happy to:
A. Redesign the database(s)
B. Set up a domain for the database
C. Set up a forum for discussion about the database and related items
I'm not interested in
A. Subverting any of the existing wikis, web pages that contain information about derivatives, pets and sfs files
B. Hosting files that I have not created
C. Running a one man band operation
Help?
Absolutely...I am too busy and not technical enough to do it all....the effort should be one of and for the Puppy community.
I'll do what I've done for the amateur radio community....I'll set up a domain, database and forum....if it's used and people help, we all win....if not, I'll take it down.

Yeah, that looks beautiful!
What category do fontpacks fit in? I've just created a half-dozen dotpets, comprising the full DejaVu 2.29, Linux Libertine 4.4.1, Luxi 0.1.2, the MgOpen fonts, Microsoft Core Webfonts, and the URW Ghostscript-derived ttf 80-pack. How do I slap them up?

The Pet Store has been a bit long winded, if everyone is happy about the test site I put up, I can go ahead and get it running...let me or Lobster know...

Great work ttuuxxx, gposil, Lobster and any other contributor. I like the way it looks and the inclusion of Libraries section.
There are many pets that could work in different Puppy vesions, could we have a cross over section for these pets?.
Of course we need enough information/documentation from pets creators to make the right classification, the work is just starting...
gposil, I think it`s the right moment to define standards for: uploads, additional documentation, classifications, etc.
Will Winblowers know what "Petstore" stands for ?

Regardless of the fact that the Petstore itself is a wonderful concept, I wonder if Winblowerd will understand -at a glance- that it is "extra software" ?
Maybe you could add an extra line "extra software for your Puppy"?

Maybe there could be some type of message alerting folks about it....and even a lexicon of argot that would allow them to understand the cant.

Can we get a consensus of opinion, do I go ahead and build the PetStore based on my test template or wait...BTW we have already had uploads to the package area and I will sort them out...but as
clarf put it, we have to have a methodology for upload and with that in mind, I think with each pet or sfs that is uploaded, there should be an accompanying text file with the following template...or similar(open to suggestion)
[Pack Info]
title=
series=
description=
menu category=
author=
port from=
BTW- this will not be needed for series 5u and 5d
debs, as they already have that info built in.
Let me know, I can have a workable site running within a few hours if everyone agrees...
One other thing, for those who have seen the
site template, the home page will also include a site package search, and as someone mentioned, cross compatibility will be dealt with...

Consensus with Linux? It is clear what you are doing is obvious and fine . . .
This is Puppy,
please go ahead (you are doing the work)
later on we can vote on something or other . . .

Maybe you could indicate
"For FREE extra, terribly easily installable, software: visit out Petstore. Open 24 hours a day".
========================================
Maybe one could add a line explaining how easy it is (even nancy reagan knows howto) to un and in-stall pets and sfs's.
Note: the other day trio made a pet with which you can easily in- and uninstall sfs's. (Even running 4.1.2 livecd)
rjb of Choicepup also made some that go faster, but I think for every version a different "load_sfs" and "unload_sfs"
When I first visited this site thought pet's and sfs'en were exclusively meant for tweakers. Took me months befote I knew that even I could load these things. Sorry tweakers, the lanuage is often He-brew for me and I am afraid for other general Winblowers as well.)

Hi gposil, just watched
http://www.petstore.puppyspace.org/ and find it very easy to use, simple and good looking.
The template text is fine... although I think you could add a URL line for related package information (like forum post, additional installation instructions, etc.).
Thanks.
