Hello Kennel mates,

Can someone direct me to where to find the latest pet downloads for HPLIP and CUPS (both 32 and 64 bit)?

Beginning March 10, 2020 the CUPS site gives me Internal Server Error on both my HP machines 32 bit and 64 bit.

The HPLIP code is out-of-date.

Print connection to computer no longer works. No print feature functioning.

Scan connection to computer no longer works. No scan feature functioning.

The copy feature works and printing out of HP help instructions works.

Printer:

HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer series

Model: 4655

Serial : TH7694C0070662

Product: F1J00A

Service ID: 27290

Printer Zone: (PX):2

Firmware Version: CUP1FN1830AR

Hardware and Software:

HP HDX Premium Series - Tahrpup 6.0.5 updated fairly regularly
HP dm1 - DPup Stretch 7.0.5

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.

I had the exact same issue about a month ago. I solved it by reinstalling the same HPLIP print (and scan? file - I think it was in the puppy package manager. This has happened to me before and I applied the same remedy.

In any case I vaguely recall seeing updated HPLIP files on the HP website.

Hope this helps.

How to Install Your Printer/Scanner in Puppy

Geek3579, Thank you for the response.

Ironic you should mention your solution as I just tried the same idea late last night. It worked. Well, at least I've got print enabled again on one machine. However, the scan isn't working. Did this remedy also restore your scan function?

Thanks again,

Sky

In the Dog linux reps there are hplip deb packages which sometimes work in puppy:

Have you tried getting the driver from here:

In relation to scanning, there is often a hplip-scan-xx.xx.xx.pet which needs to be added in. In older puppies this was hard to find and was archived ( eg tahrpup 6.05) . In more recent puppies it is in the PPM, if it is needed. I also believe that the Hplip needed to be installed first, then Hplip-scan.

The printer then needs to be added in the CUPS printer management section. The printer needs to be switched on, and hardware fully settled ( ie it has stopped making funny whirring-clunk-clunk noises) before the OS can find it.

Connecting a printer to puppy linux can be a difficult process at times, but its worth the effort as the OS is so useful, IMO.

I'm wondering if you've figured this out to your satisfaction yet, Sky. Not to be Captain Obvious here, but if all else fails, maybe revert to an earlier version of CUPS?
