Hello Jim,

Where did you find the libsqlite3-3.6.12.so.0

It's not in lucid.

I copied it over from libs in tazoc's Lighthouse. You may prefer to use amarok_xxx-sfs4.sfs which works as is.

Here is a fix for libfaad which should take care of sound in gxine.

No luck with Seamonkey 2.04 :( . I actually got to "make install" but some weird error occurred. Ah well.

I just looked at Barry's blog and he compiled Seamonkey-2.04 :) , In next Quirky.

Cheers

01micko,
Thanks, your fix worked great, now both video and audio are working fine in gzine.

Your hard work on Seamonkey is still greatly appreciated. I hope that Barry's also including in his update the modification to /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown and the 'init' script in the initramfs so that the ext2, ext3 or ext4 option is taken care of too.

Cheers,
Jim

Good, it was a nice side affect from fixing zigbert's issue. I fired up pupRadio and all the channels work in the telly part.

It's a bit weird because I had no problem with 2.03 which I'm using now, compiled awhile ago on upup.

I'm pretty sure that Barry will include the ext3/4 support in the next version, there's not much code to change.

I have compiled Icewm , the latest 1.36 and it is working fine in lupu. It is the raw package at the moment, I need to add icon paths and tweak the themes before I release it, at some point today.

I am also in contact with Joe Wing, he is going to send me some things to try out to see if we can knock this icon bug on the head.

Cheers

That will be a nice addition, also consider adding wbar and your fine wbar configuration program.

As for the "icon" bug, it could be a video driver issue. I can't duplicate the problem with any of the icon sets, they are all nice and crisp on my hardware.

-sh: [: -ge: unary operator expected

This appears right before "This script will run X windows for you ..."
during boot up on a hard drive frugal install sitting on an ext3 part.

It is still visible in ctrl-alt-f1 window,
This doesn't seem to affect anything though.

G'day,
Just to ditto the "sh: [: -ge: unary operator expected" observation, and that it appears but doesn't seem to stop the booting of a frugal or a full LUPU.

Hey upnorth and davids45

Code: Select all

-sh: [: -ge: unary operator expected
Yep. It's there for sure. The mos likely cause is that a config file for bash is messed up, but I fixed one that was causing the same thing when opening a terminal so I am puzzled. Thanks.

I am still seeing the weird Osmo oddity in lupu004.

After the letter 'k' and space Osmo displays 3 spaces before the next word. This appears in existing entries and as I type in a new entry!

If it is of any relevance I am using the en-GB locale.

I am also seeing this in Firefox 3.6.3.

JUst downloaded version 4 with browser selection.
Installed firefox. Fonts looked very small on smaller text and larger looked like old dot-matrix.
Uninstalled firefox and installed Seamonkey 2.0 that I already had as a pet.
There was no improvement in the fonts displayed. It is VERY hard on th eyes.
Nvidia GeForce 5150 SE Graphics.

I did not get bad font display in lupu-003.

I did not even try making a pupsave file with the display so poor.

A few file problems.

#53 Post by TomRhymer »

Trying out Lucid 4 now. I haven't used any of the previous Lucids so I'm starting from scratch. I was able to connect to my Wifi network using Pwireless and download Firefox. I'm not by any means an expert with Puppy.

I can't play MP3 files using Pmusic, the files load into the player but when I try to play them, it says "buffering" for a few seconds, then stops.

When I tried to play a video file in Gxine, it did play the sound but not the video. It identified the file as being Xvid.

When I try to open an html file, it did not use Firefox and gave an error message about "could not resolve http://" I tried to change the setting in Rox to use Firefox, but now when I click the file, it goes to the default home page.

My computer is an Acer Aspire One AOD-150 netbook. I'm booting from a flash drive made with Unetbootin.

Do these errors make sense to anyone?

GX100 does not power off

This still does not power off - only halts. The drive seems to spin down, but the fan and monitor are still alive. Also, p7zip-full is not available.

GX100 Small Form Factor with 564MHz coppermine - Thanks, Kurt

mtpaint compile

#57 Post by don570 »

latest mtpaint is found at
http://github.com/wjaguar/mtPaint

the developer has recently made some changes to configure

the configuration file was made successfully with command
./configure --bindir=/usr/bin release GIF gif jpeg jp2 tiff gtk2 staticft

for the international version use command
./configure --bindir=/usr/bin release GIF gif jpeg jp2 tiff gtk2 staticft intl

note that when I tried the same procedure using Lighthouse Puppy
I had to drop jp2 option

Hi playdayz,

Super! :D Lucid Puppy 005 frugal installation on an ext4 partition working fine so far except for one problem. The selection for a 4fs save file creates a corrupted save file, however, the 3fs save file works great.

Will check it out more tomorrow.

Cheers,
Jim :D

On my old P3 box, I need to use ndiswrapper for wireless. (lupu-005 runs nicely on it ;) ). It failed. The reason is that for some weird reason ndiswrapper is not loaded, this is with SNS and Network Wizard. I fluked getting online with "modprobe ndiswrapper" then running SNS again, I will check if the behaviour is the same in Quirky-018 and report to BarryK. It would either be a kernel issue or a scripting (woof) issue. ( I think :? )

Cheers

EDIT
Oh dear! The bug is not in Quirky. I just checked, ndiswrapper loads and is straight online. It's a strange one, I don't know where to start looking... it wasn't a one off either, checked a couple of times.

Just did a fresh frugal install of 005 w/ a new ext3 save file on old P3 test box. Installed Firefox with the Browser Installer and everything is working fine. Video, sound and internet are working correctly out of the box.

On to more testing......... :)
