I didn't know it wasn't working grrrr, someone will probably have to compile chrome or find a hack I guess, I looked for other fixes and couldn't find any.jemimah wrote:Out of curiosity, did you get the ffmpeg_sumo plugin to work? Here's a really small and nice image viewer 16KB pet, it has rotate, slideshow, fullscreen, its still in the early stages, like zoom doesn't work yet but has a menu item for it.
hmmm next time I'll remove the zoom from the menu. Unless someone can get it work

will 214X connect to ADSL2+?
Hi. So many posts in this thread.
Is there software in this updated pup that will allow it to connect to an ISP using broadband ADSL2+ (that's what it's called here in Oz). What is the name of the ADSL software in the menu? Are there any limitations in using 214X on ADSL2+ that I wouldn't encounter in one of the all-new derivatives?
As you can guess, my experience has been limited to dialup internet until now.

Classic Pup will run fine.
I'm in Sydney myself...tested it out.
Just connect >> Ethernet 0
Test >> Ethernet 0
Auto DHCP save >> done
Enable the Firewall >> enter twice.
You should be fine to go.
//////////////
Not brilliant but >>how to.
Save as Yes..done etc after Auto DHCP.

These are the Chrome problems I do know how to fix. I haven't tested yet so I don't know which ones affect you, but just let me know if you have these and I can help.ttuuxxx wrote:I didn't know it wasn't working grrrr, someone will probably have to compile chrome or find a hack I guess, I looked for other fixes and couldn't find any.jemimah wrote:Out of curiosity, did you get the ffmpeg_sumo plugin to work? - Downloaded files don't open when you click them
Broken icons for downloaded files
AUFS kernel panics when Chrome uses too much SHM
Printing from Chome doesn't work in some CUPS versions
Chrome can't resolve local addresses when not connected to the internet
Fonts are too small
Thanks for trying, but alas it meant nothing to me, because I haven't used it before. What's the utility, I kept wondering?cthisbear wrote: Just connect >> Ethernet 0

An amusing video style.cthisbear wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEoxRrXl8yw

Fortunately, the video jogged my memory of those setup screens, so now what you wrote is clear---to me. I sure wouldn't point anyone else to that wobbly clip. What's with all the keyboard clicking and clacking

But all clear now. Thanks.
Hi,
I´m sorry about my lack of updates/reviews/comments in this thread, I´m short of time lately and this won´t change in the next months. Anyway I´m preparing two small updates for Classic Pup 2.14X, hope they could be included in the next release, if ttuuxxx has some free time...
The first one is Pclearfont, a Font Appareance Wizard that helps to configure fonts rendering for LCD or CRT displays. This small application intially was a hack for Igulender´s fontwizard utility, but as I differ about some basic ideas, I made many changes, added some features and options for 2.14x. Yes another wizard for Classic Pup...
The second is an updated pnethood with some bugs fixed.
For now I´m attaching Pclearfont, enjoy

Browser?
Hey all, newbie question here...I finally installed/got everything working in Puppy 2.14 RC5 on the old IBM Aptiva I had kicking about (200mhz Pentium, 64mbs RAM, 512mb Swap) and it's not exactly a speed demon, but it's ok.
It came with Firefox 3.5 by default and I wanted to install a more basic, less resource-intensive browser...which I noticed in the Official Repos in the Puppy Package Manager as SeaMonkey 1.1 - However, when I select any of the servers to get the pet from, they all cannot connect, and checking those sites from my browser, it seems that pet is actually no longer on any of the servers?
I had noticed a few other SeaMonkey .pets and had tried installing those, but they gave me a long list of dependencies I was missing. Can anybody tell me where to get a nice pet (including necessary dependencies, or at least providing a separate link to the required dependencies...) that I could use on that computer? I wouldn't mind if it had flash and java enabled either...not that I'll be trying anything other than basic surfing on it...it's mostly just something to tinker with
Thanks a lot for any help!
EDIT - Also, suggestions for a nice Pidgin .pet would be nice too
EDIT #2 - On a random side-note, I've noticed that every time I restart, another CD-Rom icon appears on the bottom left of my desktop, yet they are all for the same drive and I have not made any hardware changes? Anyone have any idea how I could stop this from happening so there is just the one icon? Thanks!

Thanks Sinc! I'll give it a whirl
Installing it now...any thoughts on the CD-ROM icon issue?
EDIT: Just installed FirePup, tells me it is missing masses of dependencies?
Any idea where to get them?

man, i use 214x all the time but I'm playing around in lupu right now. there is an icon on the desktop that controls those. you can try playing around with the settings but I can't remember what its called. its next to MUT I think on the desktop.
try unchecking the option for "all" and setting it to "perm". sorry if I were in 214x right now i could be more helpful. trying to go from memory here. sometimes just redoing things fixes 'em also so you could just try exiting to prompt and type "xorgwizard" and just run through that again. i haven't had that happen so I'm just suggesting a few basic ideas.
EDIT: actually its menu>desktop>desktop mountpoint settings. try selecting perm.

Ah, just noticed your new post!
Thanks, I'll take a look in a second, no worries. I'd run a newer version of Puppy on this machine, but something tells me it wouldn't run too well, and as for tinkering, it's fun to try and get stuff working
(I do have Puppy Stardust 013 and Lupu 5.1 in VMs on my Win7 desktop though!)
I was just noticing that FirePup is telling me it is missing a mass of dependencies, any idea where I could get them from?

Usually when ttuuxxx makes programs so small you will get those error messages. try running it anyways. it should work. i'll try it and let you know.darkstrike wrote:I was just noticing that FirePup is telling me it is missing a mass of dependencies, any idea where I could get them from?
EDIT: I just installed firepup on 214x. it gave me the message about all the missing dependencies. I clicked okay. went menu>refresh menu. then menu>internet firepup and it started right up.
