Google Earth NOT Working

Lobister!

When I said previously that Google Earth didn't work.. That was after install on initial boot of 515.

After SAVE FILE was created and then a shutdown, 2nd boot Google Earth "WORKED." This seems to be similiar to the problem others are having with the mute-thing... Just a suggestion but might advise somewhere in initial bootup for new Puppy users to try a shutdown and reboot to see if a particular program is at fault before determining or even possibly deleting it. Something like this on startup or better yet a popup at the Package Manager

If a "Program Doesn't Work or Work Properly" after Install, try Shutting Down and re-booting The Computer, "then try that program again."

Could save a lot of unnecessary questions in the forum!

I am having a little problem with PupClockset 1.2.

I cannot change the font in openbox. Font type, colour and size remain frozen at the default setting.

This happened before and after creating a save file and remained unsolved after several reboots.

It worked well in Luci 246.

Running from live cd, Atom 330 Ion.

Just a cosmetic issue, I don't know if it has already been said...in jwm we have 2 launchers on the taskbar for partview: one is on the left side, and the other is the left-click of the free space icon on the right, next to the clock...i think we only need one...apart from this, everything is fine, you're doing a GREAT work with this lucid 5.2, I'd say this could be an rc rather than a beta!

When I boot Lupu-515 by live CD, changing the FBPanel clock format with PupClockset now fails (at least initially). This is reproducible after rebooting multiple times. However, if I reboot and immediately restart fbpanel by running fixmenus (or pfbpanel refresh), then PupClockset works properly. This behavior is new since Luci-246.
Bert,
I have the same problem in Lupu-515, but not in prior versions.
At the moment, I'm not sure what has changed in Lupu.

I like the gold brushed desktop but I like gray better
Me too mick01 via IRC said he preferred the brushed gray too, :)

When reducing size I found mtpaint could not save in jpg
- thought that had been fixed?
So the enclosed is under a quarter the size but a better compression effort could be made . . .

That is interesting
I did not need a reboot - just restart x
Are you running from DVD or frugal?

My locale has gone gone again (no idea why)
but a pound sign will display as a hash instead of my local currency

Thanks, sinc. it is at line 48 in /usr/local/petget/installpkg.sh

I am preparing dotpup package i18n'ed and avoiding locale problem, is breaking LANG when install/uninstall packages.

Na because he's using one thread with 2 Operating Systems to do it, I wouldn't consider that a straight out win, Plus he went mainstream eg Distrowatch and 2.14X was always just a murga project, big difference in viewers.
He might win with the numbers, but I wouldn't consider it a complete win.
Plus he's only 1/2 way with the views, 2.14x has 220,000 more views, lol

HELP!

Started a new install of Lupu-515.
Looking good and working well :D , EXCEPT...

1. The text beneath the icons for each partition on the desktop is in BLACK!
I'm using the "Alaska" background, and the black can hardly be seen...
Not at all when the background region [it varies] is also BLACK.

You needed to burn the iso to a CD and make a live CD of Lupu 515.
For the programs in Puppy to work
Thank you bigpup. I am glad that the tools work in that fashion. In many
cases, the system being used does not have CD-ROM drive and there is no
external one.Since that is my situation, I am forced to use the ISO file
directly from the the hard drive, in order to install Puppy onto a
USB flash drive. I assure you, that many users are in the same boat.

A tool that specifically allows for a lupu-511.sfs, to be located in some directory
(on CD, or elsewhere), can just as easily allow for lupu-*.sfs, luci-*.sfs,
or lupi-*.sfs to be located (so that it can be used for the install).
Thus, a larger PuppyLinux user-base can make use of the tool that has
so graciously been bundled with Puppy.

Sylvander,

Lobster reported the same issue on page 197 and bigpup came up with the solution: Rox>>options>>pinboard.

That worked for me, I now have a white icon font with a light black shadow.
Here's a screenshot of my desktop. As you can see I like all things small, not just Operating Systems

Did it it used to come with a white shadow so would be viewable on all wallpapers?
You can change the color by going to Rox>options>pinboard and change the foreground color.
where do I find Rox>options>pinboard?

Click on the File icon at the upper left of the desktop, right-click on some whitespace and click options. Click on pinboard then foreground, choose your color. You can just enter #ffffff in color name for white.
