* I wonder why the tray behaviour has changed? Seem to need to hold a right click to use the tray apps, eg Firewallstate, network_tray.. retrovol is ok. These were ok before about 240 I think.
Yes, 239 was OK, 240 was not OK. 240 was the new Woof and I will check what else.
tasmod, It was not anything you did.

It is the same on both openbox and jwm.

This is our big problem right now.

Here is a clue that I just discovered. If you right-click at the very bottom left corner of the firewallstate icon or the network_tray icon, then they operate correctly--the menu pops open and stays open if you release the right-click and allows you to select an option with a left click. I mean a very tiny point just below the lower left corner of the icon. I got it by accident but it takes some practice to get it each time. Who knows?

could right click menu behaviour be altered? you need to be quite careful to hold when you click and hold as the mouse pointer tends to be over the quit and remove firewall state option. noticed this in 5.1 too when unmounting a drive from the desktop icon the mouse pointer is usually over the remove items option and it's quite easy to accidentally do so if you're not careful.

radky , Even with PupClockset would you still recommend the tclock?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another clock item. Am I right that Psync sets one's computer's clock to UTC. Since windows computers (and many Puppy computers I think) are usually set to local time, that may make it look wrong, but using Psync makes it imperative to use the timezone setter.

But if you boot back into windows it may reset to local time causing more cdonfusion when returning to Puppy.

Yes, I recommend the more versatile Fbpanel tclock plug-in, not only for PupClockset, but also for the Fbpanel configurator. The alternate dclock plug-in will display font colors, but only supports time in limited 12 or 24 hour formats - and makes no provision for user input of strftime specifiers or Pango markup. Consequently, dclock will not respond to PupClockset or any clock-setting utility that uses the strftime command structure, including Pfbpanel (the Fbpanel configurator) which also uses strftime to provide 12 and 24 hour formats. That’s why Pfbpanel fails to change the clock format when the dclock plug-in is active, but will work as designed if tclock is active.

Note: When PupClockset is installed, the clock-setting feature of Pfbpanel will defer to PupClockset.

Concerning Psync and UTC, I'm sure tasmod will respond soon. :)

Thanks

Already addressed for lucid 244.
right-click on the tray opened a fbpanel configuration panel.
Very handy instead of going through the menu system.
Any reason why this user-friendly facility has been taken away?
Have you tried <CTRL> <Right Click> ?

Delta File

#2549 Post by alec78 »

Hi all,
@01micko
Please check the URL you posted for the delta file on page 167, I think there should be a stuff in place of the second micko01.
Cheers[/list]

You know what? I am sick of trying to make these delta files work. So I click on the delta file, up pops the box with the appropriate entries. I click on 'generate'. It says it is done but.... bugger all! What :) :)

This just worked for me. I put them both in the same directory. I opened Xdelta file difference manager and put the iso in the top and the delta in the bottom and got luci-245.iso

But I have been shoddy. I will take the time to do it right from now on (or not do it ;-) When it doesn't take any time and says it succeeded, it didn't, as you know.

Have I missed that Alsa screws up the sound card??
You mean alsawizard. Yes, in my case it makes the second of my sound cards permanently disappear. I would not advise for anyone with more than one sound card--which I think we should say with a splash. Thanks.
Please confirm that you do mean alsawizard.
This is now done for luci-246, starting alsawizard from a menu results in a warning, but not starting it from a terminal assuming different knowledge base. and it was easier that way..

I am not sure to what help to the Devs the following info can be???

Suppose the Devs find it a good thing that the Luci and Lupu could work for even the small Acer 10" screen Netbooks with Atom CPU.

Not only Fluppy that Jememah provided works good that small computer but also IguLeder and his Insidious Puppy inpu-001 works good too while all other puppies I've tested fail to boot more often then they do boot.

So obviously Jemimah and IguLeder have done something that should be possible to mimic to get also Luci and Lupu to work.

Just a persistent Newbie confused idea that if something works than why not look into it and learn from it? Just a friendly thought from a naive propeller head guy. :)

Just disregard my suggestion if it is too embarrassing.

radky, You might be interested to know or you might already know, but to get the change from dclock back to tclock plus enter the appropriate span one has to edit /usr/sbin/pfbpanel because every time fixmenus is run then pfbpanel recreates the menu file and the clock plugin is part of that file (/root/.config/fbpanel/default).

No big deal. I figured it out when I was changing from tclock to dclock to get color and the change kept getting lost when fixmenus was run.

Thanks for PupClockset.

Oh, I have figured it out now. No need to mess with pfbpanel, PupClockset handles it.

Yes nooby, If only we had enough time and personnel.

But as is, we recommend Fluppy and Insidious and Wary for computers that will not run Lucid.

playdayz that is totally okay with me. Sooner or later you find a way to make it compatible and I feel okay with Fluppy enough to make it behave as I want it so that is okay.

I only realized that all other owners of same machine will have no way to know unless it is spelled out on the first post that it could have such boot problems unless my machine are very different.

Just wanted to share a though. No harm intended. I have loved to follow and test Luci it has been great fun so thanks indeed for all your efforts and Luci do work great on my other two more noisy computers.

Playdayz.
Please note that many users will not know (or want to know) their own exact H/W configuration. Many will not even realize that they have more than one sound card (built-in or not). A warning might help some users, but not others. Is there a more appropriate solution?

What would you have in mind? My thinking was anyone who has more than one sound card probably knows that--but with the video cards nowadays pretending to be sound cards, I actually have 3 that show up--so someone could have 2 without knowing. At the very least it is a warning.
