You don't compile it, perl does it when it wants to run it.
It fails because perl package in puppy is striped so it misses a lot of those pm dev files, try installing full perl package from debian first?

Not new, no. It is why you dont hear much from me, the display eventually drives me off to generic 4.3.1

It appears the prob you are having is a well known problem with some 965 intel chipsets...could you change the Firefox theme to default and see if there is any change...it has been reported that certain Firefox themes display this glitch...

The apparent fix for all the other reports seems to be to upgrade Xorg, or don't use the themes that do it(not really acceptable).

Could you report on the theme change whether it fixes the screen tearing artifacts etc...

I'm about to throw my hands up in frustration.................

I wiped the partition containing my full install of 484 Beta 3, re-downloaded the iso, verified, and did a manual frugal install this time.(took burning the disc out of the equation).
Same problem, Dillo won't connect with any sites and the package manager will not update. Can download and install with PPM and Firefox connects fine.

Onboard Intel Ethernet Pro 100 w/ wired DSL connection.

Any ideas or suggestions?

dunno if i'm in the right place but ...,

I installed the gPlanarity pet, which seemed to install ok, but on running only presented the grey outer window that the proggy normally runs in. No difference (and no error indication) running from console

Haven't tried this on vanilla puppy, as it comes with gPlanarity.

My first non-standard puppy tryout, so apologies if i'm reporting in the wrong place

Resize the window, and it will work, it's a bug in gPlanarity, related to gtk version, it doesn't like new ones, after resizing window, it seems to operate properly.

What a weird problem, I can't duplicate it here, but it would appear your network setup is not resolving DNS correctly...that would explain PPM also, but not Firefox...

What does your /etc/resolv.conf file say...

It's really strange....Firefox works, installed Arora browser.....it works. Google Chrome and Opera work.......just not Dillo and package list updates.

I'm using 484 right now.......

Dpup and 2.14X have roughly the same gtk version, and it compiles fine in 2.14X.
I've also compiled gPlanarity before, lol I went for the download link and it was http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/planarity/ then I used PMirrorget and it downloaded 22MB before I stopped it below is the pic of the trunk it was downloading, lol
plus it didn't compile, then I went to Ubuntu and downloaded the sources http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/u ... rig.tar.gz and altered the make file so it installs to usr/bin and not usr/local/bin and also enabled strip, and it compiled perfect, below is a pet for 2.14X and should work on Dpup.
