Turns out that the user and group issues are NAS related and nothing special to do with puppy. The same issue is present on my Ubuntu systems.

I did exactly the same on a 4.0 and got exactly the same error message "can't read superblock ". Still stuck there. May I ask how you actually solved this issue?

you have to use "nolock" !!!
My mount in /etc/fstab:
192.168.XXX.12:/hdd /dream nfs nolock,rw,noauto 0 0

hi,
my puppy is the 4.1.2. is there a nfsmodules.tar for this kernel?
or any way to get the nfs?
