I live in a small city 50,000+ but in south west Connecticut where suburbia spreads out and one town blends into another all the way from here to New York City only 72 miles to the southwest along the coastline...so it feels like you live in one huge city with some forest, lakes, rivers and fields sprinkled in. To the north it is not far to a much more rural and far less populated area. Although go to far enough east North east one lands in Boston.

I've lived in bigger cities like Hamburg, Denver, Boston also some other smaller cities like Cologne but also have lived in a village of 400 people.

Small village of a few hundred people at most. Place I was brought up in was even smaller: a few dozen and most well separated. The nearest big town here is about 5 km away and pop less than seven thousand.

I live in a very small community, in Northern WV, that is about two miles distance from a larger community whose population was 375 at the 2010 census.
