That is one of my olde Puppy sites
and I mostly just updated links for 5.2 . . .
I am working on it. So far I have got it a lot smaller. The was a stupid  amount of junk . It also failed validation ! Hope to finish soonish.

Do you do databases too?
Its suppose to do the Impress presentations also, but I don't have one to test it with.
As for databases that might be a thing for 2.14X, I've spent about a week or 80+hrs on 5.2 and feel like its time to go back to 2.14X. I might spend a few more hours on it tomorrow and then the switch. But Its nice that they include the blue-moon icon theme, I feel at home with it :) all its missing is the VW background, lol

For the first year out of 3, we had to do it by hand for the diploma in web management that I went back to School for. I hated doing sites by hand, dreamweaver was great, actually at that time they weren't using Linux in the college for the front end of the websites, They were using dreamweaver and the server side was Linux, But I introduced them to puppy and Geany/Bluefish and we started using them for coding sites. But it couldn't be Official because MS has agreements with Aussie schools that they have to run windows, to get a better deal on prices. Anyways it opened a few eyes :)

I compiled a new version of mtpaint 3.34.59 in lupq
and have been testing for a few hours and like it.

Download
http://www.datafilehost.com/download-d2908bcb.html

compiled with

Code: Select all

./configure --bindir=/usr/bin release intl
It now has ability to open damaged files and
another feature is pressing key E shows a palette of colors.

There is a new version of pcd 1.3 however I have found that
there is a significant bug. When user launches pcd 1.3 without an
Audio CD inserted there is no list of tracks in window possible.

The solution is to have the Audio CD inserted at the time of pcd launch.

Because they have ISO8859-15, but Luci/Lucu/LupQ, like Swiss, do not have it in /usr/share/X11/locale.
Thank you.
I had the misunderstanding that if there was one iso8859-XX they were all there.
Learned something again. 8)
Well until I now discovered a very worrying issue about accented characters in file names.
Agreed not related to Lucid but more to puppy.
If I remember well, in 3.XX and I think also 4.XX the worst that happened was a warning message that the file name wasn't UTF compliant or something the like. I could work with those files and copy them without losing the name with accented characters.
Just by accident and to my horror I see that I have such files who's name are changed really, I verified in Windows as well.
In the panel it is seen that I already did a rename to the correct ones.

So I wonder now how save it is to use puppy in a National Language Environment.

Code: Select all

Just one more thing.
These files are old and have not been used or opened. So the more worrying it is, that the name has changed.

The number the task tray shows is complex. Barry add more informations on the Freemem applet.
  1. Check your PUPMODE:

    Code: Select all

    cat /etc/rc.d/PUPSTATE
  2. Mounted speces:

    Code: Select all

    df -m
  3. Free memory and swap:

    Code: Select all

    free
They give a hint.

I've rebooted since I posted the problem which may affect the results below:

Does this tell you anything? Should I make sure that sdb7 is mounted when the full installation is in use?

Thanks,

Fresh manual frugal install of Luci-240 on the old P3 test box. On initial boot everything worked....internet,sound and screen resolution. Installed Xorg_High and SeaMonkey. Ran for about 30 minutes and rebooted.Sound muted.
Guess I'll try the zzz pet.

Playdayz,
Recommend build the next Luci without 'zzz'. After all, it is experimental still, that is why it is in Quirky.

Build a normal system, and you will be likely to get more direct help from rerwin, regarding any sound or 3G modem issues.

My zzz package replaces a couple of rerwin's scripts, which is why he cannot be so helpful with debugging.

'zzz' should be considered at this stage as a fallback to try if you have insoluble problem with muted sound or 3G modem.

Yes Barry, I already have luci-241pre with the original scripts and will post it later tonight or tomorrow.

But I have noticed that in *both* luci-240 (zzz_scripts) and 241pre (original scripts) that the volume shown in retrovol is changed on reboot. I can set it to Master 50% and Front 50% and on reboot, in both luci's, Master becomes 100% and Front becomes 0%. I have never paid attention to this before, and the sound is not muted in either version but the levels are changed as I describe.

Back with pix. Well, after is on top, before rebooting and after. Is this what people have been seeing? I see it both with the original and the zzz_scdripts. Again I have never paid attention to this before so it could be normal....

Had sound while making last post, not on reboot. Before and after shots.

FWIW, no problems in Quirky 140 on the same test boxes.
