Great point nooby-- I've been continually aghast at the attitude towards the 4th Amendment of my Bill of Rights for some time. And these vile Dems who purport to represent the left are, amazingly, worse than Bush. Whistleblowers are an absolutely crucial function, and the corruptoids at the top are busy criminalizing real journalism, basically.

I used to hang out some on http://talk.hope.net, but then the Stalinist-type host of that radio show apparently deleted some months' worth of posts because he didn't like some opinions. And, the guy who was posting massive amounts of intense links almost daily, vanished.

Wikileaks is an example of an anonymity function, but Assange is creepy-- check out the site of this 1 guy who was a co-founder, but left WL in disgust:

I am not logical enough to figure it all out but tell me where I go wrong

1. My ISP is bound by European Union Law to keep record of everything I do for some months or years. Phone calls from which number to which number. SMS and MMS from which to which. Email from which email address to which email address.

What MAC address my computers have and what IP them gave each computer at which time and what I looked at what url I loaded and so on.

2. So anything I do to hide any of my activity would look suspicious in the eyes of the authorities. If I use another proxy or anonymity service or if I moved my computer and logged into the Library open Wifi hotspot them would get alerted that my MAC address has suddenly appeard outside their domain.

3. I would need to buy a computer that I never make use of at home and only used at open wifi spots and nothing on that computer should be related to me and my email addresses or the forums I usually attend.

Was that logical or confused thinking?

My conclusion is that only criminals have any kind of freedom them abusing law abiding citizens computers through bot nets that are too complicated to sort out due to them controlling some 10 000 to 100 000 computers at same time and having their own servers and that makes them almost beyond control? Some kind of Borg thing.

So as I get it we have no freedom at all. We are trapped in a 1984 kind of total control society .

Hi nooby,

Your anonymity on the internet is the least of your worries.
How about things like your phone calls, credit card purchases,
the books you lend from the library, the medicines you buy,
your credit record, where you eat with your family and friends?

Personally I don't give a monkey's #$% that they know that I
post on this and other forums and I may look at nude photos of women.
I'm a man so it's probably expected anyway

I can't see the authorities spending time and money looking
thru logs of my internet "habits" unless of course I have something to hide in which case
I will go out and buy a laptop using cash and like you say use it only on public wifi hotspots.

Laws are made to keep the general population under control, but if you
have nefarious intentions, there are always ways round them.

Spying is now just data sorting . . .

I wonder if the authorities will allow this latest "remedy" from the world or work of University researchers?
I read about late last night but forgot to make a bookmark.

The bad thing was that one needed their software for to be able to get it to work.

I would not trust them will be allowed to make it available or that the ISP would be allowed to have users using it. Them would make laws that require ISP to shut it down.

Greg Martin – whom had worked for Nasa, FBI och CIA had installed software on his computer that allowed him to follow everything that the looter did on his stolen computer and when the looter logged into his own FaceBook account he could document every friend and a lot of info about the looter and tell the police. He got his computer back.

Not a quote just a rough summary of the swedish text about it.

Easy to install too Greg told the reporter.

My Android smartphone has the security potential
of a swiss cheese with added holes.

You can plug the Huawei Android into a USB port to charge . . .
So now Puppy is secure but a wifi and 3G enabled

Based on the original post of this thread, THAT'S ME! Oh how I have a hyperparanoid mind. So paranoid in fact that I don't bother with firewalls. I just trust my router and never ever EVER EVER EVER type in anything to do with bank accounts or personal info like birth dates or physical address and whatnot. I will only buy online stuff if there's a customer service phone number I can call to give my info to a live human with no personal info crossing my keyboard. Knowing that my name is Chad is the closest anybody online will ever come to hacking me. Let them hack my pc. They won't get anything worth having. I'm so paranoid that sometimes I drag out guns, swords, and various power tools just because I get that feeling. My home is a fortress and I'm fully prepared and literally waiting for zombie attack or SHTF scenarios. People around me say they're gonna come find me if civilization ever collapses. They know they'll be safe and eat well.

They say that perfect paranoia is perfect awareness. They're right.

. . . and I wonder if the hyper paranoid and their weapons
make safe dinner company?

My approach is very different.
If my government or any government is taking an interest . . .
it show they care . . . what they care about is their interests . . .

I am far more concerned about compulsory advertising
(available from G-ogle who do no evil - unless there is a profit in it)

I don't buy into paranoia or compulsory glutton level consumerism

If I had a mind I would sell it
- perhaps online to the highest bidder . . .

I sometimes wonder if paranoia is a form of fear
I am not really frightened by fear
though I am a little scared for those scarred by it . . .

Maybe there is a middle way?
