Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. could I compile them for myself with just dpup_devx_482.sfs installed? If not what else would I need?

Regards Tony.

Tony,

You will need dpup-devx-484.sfs as well as the kernel source for Dpup, then you can get the drivers from the nVidia web site and compile them on your machine..

You will find the Dpup devx here and the kernel source here.

The nVidia drivers are here.

New Patch

fyi for others...after applying patch2 and rebooting, my wireless connection did not start automatically, i had to rerun first start wizard under setup to make it reappear.

i like the new "is it a wireless connection?" option though. it worked well after using it.

gposil, did you by any chance automatically associate wmv files with mplayer in firefox or could someone tell me how to do this? is firefox reading /etc/mailcap and /etc/mime.types like seamonkey?

I had same problem as sinc. After I Re - run the first start wizard and rebooted still no wireless. I then noticed that the Pwireless2 script is missing from the Startup folder.

I still can't get Pwireless2 to start from the control panel....
Am I missing something?
DId I overlook a patch?

Hi gposil,

thanks for the links, I did a fresh install then downloaded the driver software from Nvidia. Put this in root.

exited to prompt then did:-

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8774-pkg1.run

It all worked OK and I now have direct rendering.

remaster puppy cd

Hi!
I am running Dpup484beta2 patch 1+2+3.

After I remaster dpup I am not able to mount my usb drive (fat-partition). There is no problem before I remaster cd. I have tried remastering 2 times. Second time, I tried mounting the usb just before rebooting, and it mounted ok . And after booting the remastered cd, I can not mount the usb drive. Is this a bug in the remaster script?

You could be right, I don't think anyone has tested Remaster to any great extent...i'll look into it and report back....

Good Tony, I have found that this is by far the most foolproof method of installing the nVidia and ATI drivers...especially in Dpup.

this has been mentioned before, probably a long time ago, but when you select mplayer it opens up in the bottom right hand corner mostly hidden. you can drag it to the center of the screen.

Yes sinc another oversight on my part, I will include fix in next patch, along with Mplayer offscreen trick.....

Thank you for these bug catches, it makes things much easier.

Acer Aspire 1-

Installed patches 1,2,3. Wireless connection now persistent and trouble-free.

Control panel icons still dead. (I'm using external mouse.)

Installed printer driver, which is three .debs, and set up printer which is connected to a Windows machine. Works fine.
EDIT: actually, this is a first- on previous puppies there has always been a lib or symlink missing, so I keep the needed libs locally, to save downloading them. Didn't need them this time.

Thanks for report Gerry, glad Wireless now seems OK, the Control Panel icons aren't active yet, still have to click button below icon...I will get to it...BTW what printer was it, might help others if they know the procedure you went through.
