Hi Minnesota
Take this file and click on it and extract it, then take the petget from it and move it to /usr/sbin/ and overwrite the current one, then try to install the other pets you wanted to.

FIXED... Both issues :)))).

Petget now works and so does spell checker.

GOOD Job!! Keep trucking.

- Fullscreen mode doesn't work. Looks like the JWM included in RC3 isn't the fixed one.
(worked fine in RC2)

- The 'Downspeed' widget doesn't work.

Hi WhoDo
did you try the ssl in claws mail package I posted? also did you try the the spell check fix ?
maybe I''ll post all my updates and fixes on page 2 so they don't get lost.
I also updated blinky to the one in IceWm and also freememory applet, If I had the sources for the current absvolume/sgmixer I could change the icon in it, but Hairywill has the sources I think.
here's what it looks like :)
ttuuxxx

Just install the pet and 'refresh the menus' :) love that new refresh toy 8)

When building the iso from the unleashed tree, does every program installs via petget?????
The ./createpuppy script copies everything from the ./packages/mypackage-1.2.3/ directory into ./rootfs-skeleton/. It concatenates all of the pinstall.sh scripts together. Then, from inside the ./rootfs-skeleton/ directory, it executes the composite pinstall.sh script.

If there are commands in pinstall.sh that should only be run when installed by the user with PETget, they should run pwd and only do those commands if it returns '/' as the current directory. For commands that should only be run when Unleashed is building Puppy, they should check that the current directory is not '/'.

Also, any commands that involve paths should not have the leading '/'. For example, they would be usr/local/bin/defaulttexteditor, not /usr/local/bin/defaulttexteditor. If absolute paths are used instead of relative, things will be goofed up when Unleashed builds Puppy.

Of course, this also means that use of $HOME needs a workaround: Something like this would work: $(pwd)$HOME
Otherwise it will use the $HOME directory of the running system rather than the one in the new Puppy.

Bonjour,
I have installed, like everyone else, the package petget-420-v3.pet provided by Whodo at the end of this post to make petget works.
Then, I have replaced these petget files of petget-420-v3.pet by the original files provided in the RC3 and then petget works perfectly.
What is this mystery?
Cordialement ;)

its the default desktop image, full screenshot below, but yes Its the shaded area of pwidgets covering the sand.

I haven't touched or modified any part of pwidgets or the default desktop, just changed blinky and added freememory applet.

I wondered about the ntfs-3g missing when I tried using the previous devx.sfs to compile some programs... glad someone else brought it up since I had forgotten... there were more missing symlinks all over the place ... I hope we have a plan to correct this shortly after the final release since not everyone is willing to peruse ttuuxxx's library of libraries just to compile their one program

doe ssl work for you now?, is it missing anythng? are you happy with it?
which was the plugin you wanted, I'll compile it right now.
Just tried the latest Claws. Seems fine. I removed the libiconv.so.2 from my system and it still worked. So you must have included it somewhere. SSL is there too.

For myself I need the PGP plugins that are included in the Standard Plugins set. According to the Claws website though, this set of plugins can only be used with Claws version 3.7. I'm not sure where to find the plugins that are compatible with Claws version 3.6 though. I'll have a browse around for them.

It would probably be of interest for other users to have the Standard Plugins (or maybe even the Extra Plugins as well) available as a pet package. Doesn't really need to be in the ISO itself. There is some useful looking stuff there e.g an RSS add-on reader.

Edit: what do you think of the idea that I mentioned a few posts back about making a combo pet out of Firefox and Thunderbird and then cutting down the size as you did with Firepup?

Thanks

Warren
Pwidgets Clock issue.
I'm not sure the problem is with Pwidgets. There's something very strange with wallpaper handling in rc3. Please try this:
- Change desktop (not to default.jpg).
- reboot system (not enough to restart X).
When desktop shows, it first contains the default wallpaper, then changes to your selected wallpaper.

problem with alsa in 4.2rc2----inet 8x0----logitech usb

#153 Post by slippycurb »

hey girls and boys.....
My apologies for putting this post everywhere.........(maybe someone wants to go round and delete all these)
i found some sort of conflict between an onboard intel soundcard and a logitech headphone usb soundcard.......alsa wouldnt configure correctly for the usb headphones....sound alwys came out of normal headphone jack....but was pure distorted.....and alsa wouldnt save configuration for next boot.........
i fixed it by using the module blacklister and disabled the snd_intel module...and voila!!!!!perfect sound that actually came out the usb headphones.....
i put this post in numerous places before i discovered the fix........then checking back upon the desperate posts i made pa_mcclamrock suggested that i download RC3 and see if i have the same problem...il do my best

Hello; I have tried to update a 3.01 based system as it seemed important.

Bad news!

It started but stuck on the 'switching to the new filesystem' message. The only way out was the power on/off button. :( :( :( :( :(

Is this a known bug and I've missed the solution, or is this the first report? Can we live with it? Seems to me like it ought to be a stopper, but others may disagree.

Sorry to have left it so late to try this out.

Patience my friend... how long did you wait? On a slowish system this can take over an hour, lots of things to change and update.

ttuuxxx,

For some reason, when I installed your 2 desktops.pet on RC3, it works fine with JWM but will not work with the icewm, my preferred WM. It worked fine with both on RC2.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim I'm not sure which pet packages you are talking about, can you upload the pet, or provide a link, I've posted well over 50 packages for 4.2 so far, plus hundreds since I've been with puppy. So just a bit more detail please. thanks

Hey WhoDo

I was trying to compile the latest alsa drivers, for all the issues people have with alsa, and well I needed the kernel headers, so I installed the package from the repo, but it didn't come with the autoconf.h which should be found in that package, don't get confused with autoconf the building make handler, this one is related to the kernel, probably should of been part of the devX sfs also. anyways 301 it did come with the devx, but its missing in 4 series. also there's a few system links in the devx which is ok but they go down too many levels to actually work with the compiler, after we're done 4.2 maybe I'll look at the compiler a tiny bit max 4 days, lols. If you wanted me to.

I live in a good area of Sydney, The Hills district but today, I could hear a soft knock on the door, I figured it was some kids wanting to play with my kids, but they were at school. So I didn't bother answering the door, then my cat who is frighten by anyone came racing into my pc room, and hid, that usually means someone is in the house who she doesn't know, So I went into the Out house and there standing in my Out house was a burglar, So I talked to him and let him out of the house and then called the police, they were here for statement and then the finger print guys came and dusted the window where the burglar pushed in the flyscreen. Man talking about shaking you up a bit, I know this doesn't fit in Bugs & Fixes, but I just had to get it off my chest somehow. Thank god I was home, of we all could of lost a wealth of puppy related packages/software if he would of taken my pc's.
