@ ttuuxxx

good for me, that you have the same 'crazy' results on filesize. i always thought i've done something wrong.

that's also the reason, i use plinj's 0.12.

Hey WhoDo Guess what ????????????????

LOL okay whats the second most famous GTK2 engine next to clearlooks? did you say 'Murrine' So how about the engine plus 14 GTK2 themes in a 38kb pet?? its on Page 1 enjoy :)
I like the Murrina Cappucinno, Murrine-Sky, Murrina-Oranche, the best, Between clearlooks and Murrine I think we could please anyone with the GTK2 themes. This engine is really good because you can do Transparencies with it, not with these themes but with others. I'm still learning about it, so when I figure it out I'll tell you.
ttuuxxx

Ps I changed all the font sizes to match Puppy's defaults in each theme. :)

You can download it here also, just use your default gtk2 theme switch to change themes :)

HairyWill,

Regarding my earlier post about multisession not saving at shutdown, and your reply:

Puppy 4.2 alpha 4 multisession DVD doesn't ask to save the session at shutdown in either JWM or IceWM, so I'd say the choice of window manager is not the cause. I seem to recall that it worked in 4.2 alpha 3 but I'm not sure about that. If there's anything you want me to try, please send me a PM with a link to the relevant post in this thread. :)

Also it seems there is no .pdf viewer in my 4.2 alpha 4. ePDFView in menu -> Documents flickers when I click on it, but nothing else happens. The same thing happens when I click on a pdf file: it flickers but nothing else happens.

@ flash

a4 is build without cups, so that the cups-problems could be solved with a new package on a cups-'clean' sytem.

PDF viewer (epdf) has CUPS library dependencies which were removed to accommodate testing of CUPS in Alpha4. See the release notes in the first post of this thread for other known issues.

mounting a vfat partition on a usb connected HDD.

Wow, already quite some pages on a short time.

I have a 320 GB usb connected HDD.
part 1 74GB vfat, part 2 74GB ext partition (XP with extifs), part 3, ntfs 26GB
part 4 10GB ext.

In XP with the ext2ifs support no problems to address the ext partitions.

With alpha 4.20, I can address all partitions except the vfat one.
A very annoying fact. (In fact I realize now, that the same problem was there already from alpha one on)
No problems with 4.1.2

Is there hope for a solution?

The Internet Connect Wizard doesn't seem to be as good as on any of the puppies I have used before.

Clicked on Connect to get the ICWiz.
Selected LAN and it recognised my ethernet (Realtek RTL8139) as needing the 8139too driver. Same as other puppies.

Test eth0 said puppy can find live network
but Auto DHCP failed to configure.
Had to load the 8139too driver the first time around.

But Auto DHCP still continues to fail.

A definite regression. Automatically recognising a Lan connection on booting is quite a basic requirement these days.

does anyone know what happened in like 4 releases to gain almost 10MB on a 2.5MB source file???
- 10x faster performance with 10x better resampling quality (a huge improvement)
- Compiles on Windows as well

Its a shame then that as a pet 1308kb compared to 104kb will probably never do. I don't think we could ever justify that amount of space for 1 lib to change audio that much. Maybe I'll contact the developer and see if he has anything smaller in the future.

The ICW hasn't changed from Puppy 4.1.2 - have you used that one before? The Realtek driver may have. There was also a post from tempestuous in re that driver in the Alpha3 thread.

Dave I appreciate that you are only trying to help but cluttering this thread with reports of bugs that have already been notified as fixed, or for which the bug is already well documented is doing no-one any favours, least of all me. Please check related threads before posting here. Thanks, mate.
