I have been researching and wonder about which is better: Pet vs Dkpg install.
Does alien2puppy use the deb's install script, or does it simply extract the deb to the
extract directory?
Does Xenialpup's dkpg install use the deb's install script?
How does this compare to a pet install?
After installing a deb, how do you find what /etc folder files it installed?
This is very important to know for remastering cd's.
Pet vs dkpg install?
No nothing about that program.alien2puppy
All newer or newest Puppy versions handle deb packages basically the way they handle pet packages.
Left click on the deb package and it installs.
Only thing, it may not do anything about adding any required dependency files, that are not already in Puppy.
May or may not make menu entries.
Really depends on what is provided by the deb package.
Look in /root/.packages (Hidden directory)After installing a deb, how do you find what /etc folder files it installed?
All installed packages make a text file that lists the files that are installed by that package.
So look for the named file of what you installed.
Also, in Puppy Package Manager>uninstall.
The deb package you installed should be listed.
You can uninstall it from here.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
