My answer will be a bit off since I have never used Peasydisc. That said:

For ripping an audio CD, there's none better IMO than abcde.

To see the tracks, with your audio CD in your drive, type in console
< cd-info >. You'll see something like this in the 2nd half of the report:

Thanks musher0 - I will stick with Peasy though as it is already grafted into my puppy sfs. It is a Slacko 5.6 derivative that runs in ram without savefile so I don't want to remaster just to add extra stuff. Fortunately I just discovered that I can use the "all" parameter in Peasy's "Track" field and it rips the lot.
(Also abcde is over 100KB and Peasy is only 15KB and does heaps more

Appearances can be deceptive! Don't believe the 15k size! In typical fashion,
rcrsn51 is probably calling from his utility all manner of cd utilities that
Puppy has. Maybe you should add those in your count to be fair to abcde!

I've just perused peasydisc.

To be fair to abcde, one thing abcde does and peasydic doesn't is
rip in one step from cdda files on CD to wav and then to the OggVorbis
format, my preferred encoding, on disk, in quality steps up to 10.

Now peasydisc offers conversion to mp3. Period. You're not allowed to
choose a bit-rate. And in two separate steps, too, it seems: you first rip
from cdda to wav. Then, as I understand it, you have to re-use peasydisc
to convert the ripped wav files to the mp3 format, again, with no control
over the quality of the sound. Agreed, I'm a former musician and I'm
pretty fussy about sound quality, but a bit-rate scale for mp3 would be a
nice add-on to peasydisc.

As I suspected, rcrsn51 regroups in one interface all manner of cd/dvd-
related utilities present on all (?) Puppies. There's nothing wrong with
that, it's well done, and it was destined to be done by some experienced
Puppyist some day. It's handy to have a central command for cd and
dvd work.

Total disk occupation of cd-related files (only cd-related, not dvd- or BR-
related) in Puppy: almost 1.3Mb's, as evidenced in the following table.

So let's not hastily discard abcde because of its apparent size.

abcde has functions peasydisc does not have, and -- another thing that I
like about abcde -- it does not mess up your screen when finishing its job,
like asunder does. If the people at asunder find making your screen into
a pseudo-matrix display funny, to give a visual example of "asunder"
or of "ripping" or what not, I'm not laughing.

Just one question: might be I am wrong ...

: ... when starting a BLANK dvd burning, with the Menu/Advanced/«Add to disc» box CHECKED, then the burn operation fails, AND the dvd is no longer usable.
This happened to me twice ... because i forgot to check/uncheck the right box ...

If true: what could be a way to avoid dvd spilling?
If false: please disregard this transmission

I understand your frustration - I was never happy with the way this procedure worked.

Here is the problem. In old versions of PeasyDisc, the default choice was New. But if you wanted to add data and forgot to switch to Add, it would destroy all the data currently on the disc.

So I switched the default to Add.

What do you think of this solution? Make the default choice New again, but add a message that warns you about it.

I experienced the following "difficulties" using this application for the first time. I wanted to full blank a cd-rw. Process seem to start correctly and I presume the blanking was done after about nine minutes when a press enter message appeared. Clicking enter resulted in what looked like another blanking exercise. I also could not stop the process. I'm sure some progress bar and a popup message when a task is finished, will add to the functionality and user friendliness of the application. This will take the guesswork out of things, especially for a new user.

There is this function:

which is connected to 'Kill' button, but also gets executed when application exits.
It's enough to just launch and quit PeasyDisc in order to break anything you do using any of the above tools (happened to me while I was converting a video).

Could you please do something to prevent this behavior?

Just wanted to say thanks Rcesn51 for Peasydisc it was the only burning suite that worked properly for a burning job I was doing. Simply beautiful.
Version 3.6 used Slacko 5.33.

French forum has Slaxen 6.3.2 on teste bench, step 'CD player'.
I must verify some translation, and why Peasy Disc only rip, because previous versions were able to play (2.6 snap shot)

FYI we have a serious problem with Gnome-Mplayer included in Slacko 6.3.2 and Slaxen of course. The application never shows all tracks. Sometimes only half of them, sometimes the double (36 instead of 18 )

Does PeasyDisk CD/DVD + multisession allow for both add and removal of files to disk so disk can be used like usb flash drive to store data?

PeasyDisc v3.9 has a new Silent mode for burning ISOs. This would be useful when batch-burning several discs.

1. Load a blank disc.
2. Click Burn.
3. When the burned disc ejects, remove it.
4. Go to Step 1 until done.

Version 4.0 posted above. Improvements to Burn, Write and Verify functions.

In particular, writing a folder to the disc adds the entire folder, not just the contents of the folder.
