CD won't boot remastered Slacko 6.9.5 (32 or 64 bit)

#1 Post by tcan97 »

Please move the following post to the Slacko32/64 700 ALPHA 3 thread. My apologies for creating a new topic.

After remastering both slacko 6.9.5 64 bit and slacko 6.9.6.1 32 bit, neither one will boot from cd. The error after boot: is
"could not find kernel image vesamenu.c32".

The remaster will work properly after doing a manual frugal install.

I did edit the isolinux.cfg file, deleting all of the graphical code in order to get the cd to boot. The only problem after doing this is the cd will not boot if the same slacko version is installed on a partition.
The manual frugal install version boots up, but not the cd.

The remastered 6.9.6.1 32 bit will boot normally with a slacko 6.3.0 32 bit and a slacko 6.9.5 64 bit frugally installed.

The modified isolinux.cfg:

Code: Select all

display help/boot.msg
default slacko
prompt 1
timeout 100

F1 help/boot.msg
F2 help/help.msg
F3 help/help2.msg

label slacko
linux vmlinuz
initrd initrd.gz
append pfix=ram pmedia=cd
Another change in the remaster process is there is no option to use a ramdisk during the remaster process.

computer:
Intel core2duo e4500
G33 chipset
Intel integrated graphics

I have been using the same computer for the past five years and this is the first time any errors in the remaster process have come up.

What did you change for the remaster? Just curious. You could try putting your changes into an adrv instead.

Your error message sounds like something more to do with the iso or cd program than the sfs remaster though.

I have the same problem when trying to remaster slacko 6.3.2 - I remastered using usb drive and from a frugal install and always I would get that message when trying to boot from the iso.

My thread here (no answers tho):
