I compiled fontconfig-2.11.1 and freetype-2.5.5, see if that fixes it for you.

fontconfig-2.11.1-i486.pet

fontconfig_DEV-2.11.1-i486.pet

fontconfig_DOC-2.11.1-i486.pet

freetype-2.5.5-i486.pet

freetype_DEV-2.5.5-i486.pet

freetype_DOC-2.5.5-i486.pet

As usual, use at your own peril  no need to install the DEV and DOC pet's
Everything appears to be working fine for me.
Thanks a lot! :)

Downloaded. Will test and report later.

After installing the files:

fontconfig-2.11.1-i486.pet
freetype-2.5.5-i486.pet

almost all of the Warnings are gone - except a single Warning still appears.
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf", line 10: Having multiple values in <test> isn't supported and may not work as expected

Cool, thanks for testing that.

I don't have "/etc/fonts/conf.d/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf" in my install. maybe this fix will help

This seems to fix it.

Though there is another issue about this.

When installing the packages, almost all the messages are gone. But when extracting the packages and copying their contents manually into the extracted vlina.sfs and rebuilding it, all the messages still appear after a reboot.

Do I need to do anything else when copying contents manually into the extracted vlina.sfs?

@LazY Puppy,

I don't get any errors at all, even before I built these packages, there is no special install method, thought I didn't use the pet packages as I used new2dir make install.

I have no idea what the problem could be, maybe something isn't being replaced when loading a sfs :?, or it's conflicting with something I don't have on my system.

Never mind!

I found the reason for this.

I had changed the adrv sfs manually, removed libre office and the browsers, then added Battleshooters Audio Programs like Ardour, Audacity, Rosegarden etc.pp. One or some of these Programs seems to have the targets of the symbolic links from /etc/fonts/conf.d placed in /etc/fonts/conf.avail.

The your compiled packages have symbolic links that are targeted to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail.

Since the adrv is on top layer (above the main sfs), the symbolic links still pointing to /etc/fonts/conf.avail instead of /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail.

Changing the symbolic links inside the adrv sfs hopefully will NOT crash any of its installed Audio Programs.

Thanks for all the help. :)

Ok.

After replacing the symbolic links (targeted them to /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail) and doing the changes manually in "/etc/fonts/conf.d/53-monospace-lcd-filter.conf, all the warnings are gone.

All of the Audio Programs included new into the adrv still do start.

During the current week I will test how/if they continue to work and report here - need to go to my Drumming Room to do testings.

The adrv seems to be a very useful invention - modifying the OS almost without to remaster the main sfs. 8)

Fits nicely into my SFS approach.

Hey guys! Thank you for this wonderful Distro! love the Carolina Vanguard R2, only i have some two noob questions:

1) Can i install it full on the HDD? (not Frugal). I didnt find that option on the Installer.
2) Can i run Virtual Box or Wine? The only thing i need is the MS Office, i HAVE to work with the M$ software, for my job.

Thank you!

WINE is available in the Additional Pets section of this forum -- specifically, the heading you want is Virtualization. WINE 1.6.2 is stable and what I've used in the past on Caro Vanguard. Works fine.

I would encourage you to use a frugal and not full install. The benefits of a frugal install far outweigh the costs on all but the most limited of hardware (on which a full install is faster -- mind you we're strictly talking Pentium II / early Pentium III era machines here).

There's a glitch with that, the same in Carolina too, I can't remember what the problem was, I think rg66 found it but I could be wrong, then frugal installs are easier to recover than a full install when things go amok.

I've gotten it as recent as 35.x, but I was just playing around. You WILL have to pester the PepperFlash Wrapper over in Additional Packages into working -- FF's built in Flash is the Adobe bit and that bird don't fly no more.

Yeah, just open the Help > About Firefox and it will auto update.

I've updated the flashplayer to version 11.2.202.460, it's in the repo.

I had some problems installing MS Office 2010 :(

Had Wine 1.6.x, and PlayOnLinux, all right installed, but when i try to install the Office, POL stucks on "Downloading Wine 1.7.22", the program is correctly downloaded (i guess), but never installed/loaded, very strange, because POL detects my Wine in the beginning.

I decided to install the very same Wine, 1.7.22, but, no difference. It keeps stuck... What`s going on?
