How to update Puppy's package manager?

#1 Post by Jude »

The first time i downloaded Puppy Linux Lucid i like the ease and availability of software downloads. Just go to the Puppy Package Manager chose your favorite browser and a second browser if need be, for a newbie this was fantastic. Is there already something in the works for updating the Package Manager. Trying to install a current version of Chromium has been quite difficult in Puppy Lucid 528 and others as well.. This is aimed at new users and for their benefit, the experts pretty much know what they need to do.. imo that is..

Thanks..

What prompted me to start this thread was in reference to tutorials about installing Chromium, so far the only ones I've found have to do with Slacko Puppy but none of them reference Lucid Puppy. So i figured if there were a way to update Puppy's package manger that would solve some of these issues.

Today i tried finding a fix for the shell shock bug in Puppy Linux Lucid, so far all I've found is a fix for slackware. Does anyone know where to find an update, a fix, i'd much appreciate it.

Maybe Lucid is going to be fazed out?

Thanks guys..

Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.6

Puppy Package Manager (PPM) Update:
Start PPM
Click on the configure package manager button.
Click on update now.

You may need to change the repositories you have selected to be seen in the main GUI window.
You will be limited to selecting no more than 5 repositories showing in the main GUI window.

If you do a search for something. Those will be the only repositories searched.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
