Nooby's sister will make a post to test if it all works out
I didn't get the pleasure of knowing nooby very well, but after reading back through some of his posts I feel that I do in some small way !
A true puppeteer ! That has gone before us to help prepare the ultimate Puppy Linux !
My sincere condolences to the family as he obviously touched a lot of lives !
This community is but one small part I am sure !
I do hope the family can find peace in knowing that he will always be remembered ! As his words and thoughts are forever etched into this forum !
He will surely be missed !
RIP nooby !

Thanks for telling us, Madam. My condolences.

He was a great contributor to this forum, his home on the Web, I suppose.
I'm sure he'll find a way to be this forum's "patron saint", if such an entity
exists.
Just like he asked and "diplomatically" pushed -- and got -- many major
Linux distro authors to explain how to make "frugal installs" of their distro
-- 'though he always said he was not a "techie".
Or how he got the forum members here to open up on various existential
subjects -- 'though he always said he was not a philosopher. Always
fostering respect of other people's opinions.
Goodbye, nooby. You'll be missed.

Oh so soon, he posted like he still had years of fire left in his belly. Sorry I was not on his thread the last few months, had other posters lampoon my faith and no longer felt I could contribute without being a source of pointless debate.
Hope he found peace and a path home prior to his departure, He was oh so close to making that choice.
He was a source of humor and reason, glad he planned for someone to tell us his goodbyes. A class act to the end.

Puppy term:
Nooby Question
Definition:
A question about something that is well-known for everyone or about something that is very simple.
I know a lot of people thought this way about the questions Nooby posted, but there was so much more to it.
He taught me a very important life lesson.
It is only a "Nooby Question" because you think you know everything!
Do not ever forget you do not know or understand everything, and you never will, unless you ask questions!!
Nooby Questions will be missed by me, because they made me really think hard about how to explain something, and I always learned something new, in trying to answer.
Anytime I think, "What a Nooby Question".
I will always think fondly of our old friend Nooby

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

nooby,
You dear, sweet soul.
Thank you nooby's sister for posting.
Thank you so much puppyluvr for posting noobs picture.
Look at those little bitty wheels on that bike, so typical nooby.
A note to nooby...
Well, nooby,
We are sure going to miss you on the forum.
You were never sure whether there was a heaven or a (G)god or not.
By today, you might have some answers to your ceaseless questions.
I'm going to assume that there is a heaven and you made it there.
I can see you now.
You are sitting at the bottom of a big golden throne.
You are looking up at (G)god and saying to her,
"I'm just a nooby here, I know nothing, but, it seems to me..."
You will make the angels smile and (G)god roll her eyes.
Heaven has gained a delightful new occupant.
I wish for you that you will rest in a field of sun-drenched wildflowers and play with an arm full of purring kittens to your hearts content.
Pass the tissues starhawk, sure is hard to keep the tears back.
Peace to you, nooby.
Sky

*chucks a box of tissues in the general direction of Port Townsend* there you go, Sky, don't let it hit you on the head!
Thanks for pointing out puppyluvr's post, as well -- I'd missed that one.
@puppyluvr -- do you have a larger version of that image? One of my regrets is that I never asked nooby what he looked like. I know, I know, it's the Internet and we're supposed to hide behind a wall of text... but I still want to know -- clearly -- what he looked like.

I don't know if I've ever directly interacted with Nooby, but I've read many of his posts. His absence will make a noticeable difference in the forums.
I wish all the best for him and his family.

Man this hit me hard... It wasn't like I was close to nooby but I stalk the forums and see his posts all over the place. Such a positive dude! And somewhere deep down... even though I've read the threads about his illness getting worse... I just kept hoping he'd somehow make it through.
Nix in Peace!
Nix in Peace!
I haven't posted in this thread, since it seems just so hard for me to do so. That's because nooby's passing hits too close to home for me. I have the exact same kind of cancer he did. Fortunately for me, I am in remission at this time. It may or may not recur.
I admire how nooby talked about his cancer on this forum. Cancer is usually one of those "taboo" subjects, that no one wants to talk about. He was very brave that way. He faced his own mortality, and shared it on this forum. The way he discussed the possibility and concept of a god reminded me a little of "Data" on Startrek...and would give me a bit of a chuckle at times. You remember ol' Data, and how he was always trying so hard to understand human concepts, and try to wrap his head around them.

Nooby's passing
Forum member gnz11 posted this link of the sad news of Nooby's passing to our IRC channel ##b0rked (formerly known as ##puppylinux and ##arch-ftw) on Freenode.
From all indications, Nooby faced his fate with courage far greater than I could ever imagine mustering up.
In a living tribute to Nooby, perhaps we should all petition the folks at Merriam-Webster to include Nooby's picture along side the definition of either "persistent" or "tenacity."
No wait! Considering the operating system he was so interested in, put the picture next to the definition of "doggedness."
To Nooby's sister, family, and friends: my heartfelt condolences. Know that he is no longer in pain and that his spirit lives on.

Wow I just found out what a shame, I read all the responses and it really got me thinking about it him. I remember he first Joined the forum I was one of the first people to talk to him about Puppy and which versions did what and which one would suit him best and he must of asked me for help just about everyday for months. It was a real joy helping him out and many others on here. It saddens me to think of him gone now, I always got a kick out of him, he was always a stand-up individual, and very well mannered, I'll have a prayer for you tonight nooby, sleep well old friend, sleep well.
