Hello,
I'm using a PCI soundcard ESI1010 (10 inputs, 10 outputs) on Puppy Studio 3.3
Alsa, Jack recognized the card
Problems are
- the SPDIF input and output don't work
- Alsamixer don't show the correct inputs
- Gnome-player can't read any mp3 file. The reading can't start.
With VLC it works well and I can hear the sound.
The problems are the same on Puppy Studio 4.
Have you an idea about this?

Reboot fresh.
Do not set up alsa.
Use the devices menu in jack
to select your card.
Worth a shot, avoiding alsa worked for me..
Best of luck.

It seems alsa starts automatically. Do you know a way for disabling alsa?
I've got one problem more and bigger:
No sound with inputs 1 and 2 (with jack), but not every time. It worked one time and don't work the other times after, doing the same with a fresh reboot. I only open jack after the boot.
The problem is the same with live-dvd ubuntu studio 13.10
Any idea?
