Been playing with sbokpg slackbuilds.org (optional src2pkg backend ) and made this package.
lack of skill - prevents me form getting Midori from sbokpg.

but using sbokpg - i get two chances with slackbuild or src2pkg.
One would miss and the other might work?

thats the one that got wifi working but its has an problem?

Hey harii4

I wrote a kill connection command for that somewhere ??
I'll have to look though some threads to find it it was something simple

UPDATED command line to turn on or off

but you could also do it from blinky *right click on the blinky icon

in your case you could check wifi0 and eth0 to hide them

I already got communication to the parallel port working

that is some work and was done in BaCon

I 'd like to send a wake up call to everyone
what you can do in BaCon !

I compiled these packages for TXZ

and installed them I had to manually modeprobe the driver
but so far it looks like this will work!!

even got blinky worked out for jwm.

Giving cwm a shot - not Iguleder's cwm

Found an older .deb that worked with TXZ_pup.

Adding Tile utility app. to my EvilWM setup.

A new year and what has happened since I joined this forum

This is the third post I made to the forum in 2007 52.9MB
and it shows what I was thinking then about making a light version
removing the browsers and I was tired of the
constant changes leaving everyone in the dark
this is what I was thinking about five years ago !

basically I havent changed my thoughts
except I want to rebuild everything following established
linux community tools such as pkgtools
and use a package format that hasn't changed in years

later I will use linux live scripts so that the live base will be 100%
distro compatible with the big brother linux
this would allow any distro to be used (slackware ,debian,arch ....)

then use home made packages for the light experience
like the community custom built for puppy

why not just use a script to make a live cd
then any distro could be used

Just a quickie.I normally run Racy 5.2.2 but was trolling through this thread earlier when I came across this package "beautify-1.0-i486-5_SLXR.txr so I downloaded it and it installed perfectly !!
However this does throw up (to me anyway) another question ; will any txz package install in Racy?

Happy New Year to you, too
I still have that fat free full installed on an IBM TP560....it worked well, and I only added a few apps, as it was very ram deficient nice job, btw

I'm so glad you went the route you did as there are many development paths, but people seem to be coming back to the idea of using more standard linux filesystem layouts, and trimming fat - much good development for us plebs to enjoy

Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next creation/development

Might your current thinking extend to cross-pollination to ARM/PPC builds?, I would really hope so

I dont know what has changed in Racy to express any certainty
at best you have good luck that my package worked correctly on Racy
saying that only because there have been many changes I havent monitored
after puppy 4.12

I do know however any kernel dependent packages such as drivers wont work
any special packages I wrote or compiled
should be tested puppy pfix=ram if that option still exists I dont know

this way you could test something without destroying your save file
so to sum it up you would have to test
if you do have a question about a certain package I compiled or wrote
I would be able to provide more info

so I dont need to use modules I can install TXZ packages directly
with a GUI ... isnt that cool !

because I built my tools around slackware
I can use them elsewhere

on Porteus
and all of my packages that I have tested so far
work on Porteus
so this means I can add what I like
* man am I glad I stuck with a linux package standard

Porteus did an excellent job
I signed up to their forum also
will keep you posted on the progress

I offered them my tools for those who prefer just simple
packages and any help they could use

Yes.

TXZ_pup is very solid and functional
with loads of software
TXZ_pup uses little more than
zip files or tar files which goes back to when computers
saved on reel to reel on Unix
Tar = tape archival retrieval - is that right?

Not so long ago though it seems like ancient days
Joes distro was known as Slaxer Pup
and I was still doing vids with a cheapo battery powered vid camera

Joes system is very simple
make compatible with simple and available packages
Use a solid base (Slackware)

Sickgut is doing much the same with Debian packages.

I wasn't talking about TXZ_pup
I was talking about Porteus!

Porteus the best live cd I have tested in years

puppy has its good things and people
but puppy has gone down a different road
that I havent walked in more than two years

Porteus is going down the road that "I wanted to take TXZ pup to"
but the puppy community wasn't and isn't and won't be ready for something like that which is ok

honestly "humble pie" I thanked the author of Porteus
and told him that I wished that I could have done what he did !
the way it was built and the end result is what I was imagining
the next txz pup to be but he saved me all the work in doing it

I don't have the free time that I used to have

so I can spend more time making apps and enjoy coding

what I was trying to say was all the work I did on TXZ pup
with package management using slackware's package format
most of it will work on Porteus so it will be very easy for me to
add anything I want to it

and most of all what got me interested in to start with
is to learn another way to build

what could it hurt?
I think the puppy ,slackware and porteus communities could handle it.
Slaxer_Pup 4.12 and TXZ_pup 4.5 each have 32 thread pages

Good news, I kinda miss Slaxer, which was a nice piece of polish.

If Porteus gains a Puppy developer, we gain a new friend. Sounds win win to me.

In ye olde days I hoped we would use or integrate programs from DSL and Austrumix. John Murga developed his version of Lua in DSL and Puppy chat was started to offer a similar service to DSL
