How to configure 3g modem in wary?

#1 Post by RIZARDOUZ7 »

Hello guys!

So I have a zte mf 622 3g modem. When I plug it to my computer, wary detects it and indicates that it is being configured then after that nothing happens. I mean where should I go to configure it? I tried going to connection options but didn't found the usb modem on the list.

Did you try to actually use it?

That is, click 'connect' icon on desktop, choose "Internet connection by analog or wireless modem".

I have a ZTE MF 112 Usb Modem from 3networks.
Puppy wary 5.1.1 sees the CD rom part of the device but does not recognise the modem at all.
I cant see any modules for ZTE so I dont know where to start.

If anyone out there can help us ZTE users it would be appreciated ?

I have a couple of ZTE USB modems that work with Wary.

I have just released Racy 5.1.99, which is a variant of Wary. This has usb-modeswitch 1.1.9 and latest data files, so perhaps it supports your ZTE chip.

See Racy announcement:

If it is recognised, when you plug it in, a message should pop up informing you that it is recognised, then that it is ready for use.

Sorry for the late response, yeah I did try to connect it via connection options however the proper module was not loaded or cannot be found on the list. I'll try racy and hopefully it solves our problems with zte modems.

Excuse my ignorance but as I have Puppy 5.1.1 wary on my Hard disk as the main OS and am slowly configuring it to do what I need as a lightweight portable solution. Simply changing OS, presumably by USB stick is not really an option.
What options do I have to maintain and upgrade to a more compatible solution if my current version lacks such facilities ?

I suggest that you post as a new thread in the Beginners Forum, for advice with this.
