Hmmmm.. they are both there... I haven't time to test atm.. I'll take a look at Charlie's attachment for clues later today.. it may be a case of exporting the CPPFLAGS before configuration for some apps.rcrsn51 wrote:I tried to compile some packages, but the devx_slacko_4.99.4.sfs seems to be missing some things, like libpng and gtk+.

for folks who might pick up a clue or 2 from this thread..
opening a Terminal and typing "seamonkey" doesnt find the program. But you can do

Another interesting-looking option listed by the --help is
but I havent played with that yet.

They had this problem also in Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.
Here is where Playdayz fixed it for his instant update 001 to Lucid Puppy.

For the graphics driver recommendation, Slickpet recommends Xorg-High on both of the machines I've been testing - however clicking the button to download the driver generates a package not found error.

Yes, the missing icons "media-playlist-repeat" and "media-playlist-shuffle" were easy enough to identify, looking through the source code (or as reported in the post above this), but, how did you find out the name of the missing "workstation"-icon, couldn't see even a trace of it in the source code01micko wrote:Yes... I fixed it in Lupu! But that fix fails in Slacko. I have to patch the source such that the offending icon[s] is omitted.. best I can do (did with an earlier version so should be doable.) There is no stock gtk icon for "workstation", or even a link. It's a gnome icon, which fails to be recognised in Slacko (also Slackware).. does anyone know what the other 2 icons are? I stock gtk it can be fixed.

Reading this, it gives the impression that you need to do this to get on the INTERNET. Most of the time you are already setup with network and INTERNET working. All done auto by boot process.
Suggest you have statement that says connection should have been setup automatically by booting Puppy. If not, do this.

Slickpet->drivers->click here to test your graphics card
Says my card is a Nvidia Quadro FX 330/Quadro NVS 280
Recommended driver is Nvidia 173.14.28
Download and install driver.
Driver sort of works, but have different problems. Basically it is not the driver needed by my card. Lockups, no openGL, Puppy will not shutdown, etc....
Normally I use the Nvidia 173.14.25 driver.

Hmm.. I searched the source for the call to the folder and cd icons awhile ago... it's a gnome icon .. it may not be called "workstation" but workstation is a symlink to the main icon.. going on rusty mem hereMinHundHettePerro wrote:[snip] but, how did you find out the name of the missing "workstation"-icon, couldn't see even a trace of it in the source code.

I got the recommended product ID's direct from the nvidia website. I'll switch your ID to the 173 list.bigpup wrote:[snip]Driver sort of works, but have different problems. Basically it is not the driver needed by my card. Lockups, no openGL, Puppy will not shutdown, etc....

I tried again to install the Nvidia 173.14.28 driver by using Slickpet.
I think you have a problem with the driver pet or the install process.
This time the driver downloaded.
Got the click OK to install pet
Never get any follow up windows saying installed, dependency check, run xorgwizard, etc...
