No fancy introduction. Latest trial has been done with Iguleders kernel-kit builder. The kernel source has only one patch outsiden automatic downloading of sources and patching. Usb_storage.patch has been added lately. It has hopefully given a step toward working usb booting.
Kernel naming is now 2.6.38-4 which means that the kernel folder is named 2.6.38. It helps updating the kernel to the newer version.

Latest Ice Puppy uses 25.5.2011 woof.

Probably buggy, most highly will brake at least on fourth reboot.....or then not. Lets see.

Ice Puppy-015 has kernel which is optimized for 486 so also Pentium 4 should have support. No highmem + PAE. It has automatic group scheduling (mirable patch) enabled, SMP and voluntary low latency so it still kicks fast.

Ice Puppy-014 is the latest Highmem + PAE version with 2.6.38.4 kernel.
It is/has Tickless, SMP, Multi core scheduling, Automatic process grouping, Hyperthreading, recognizes cores up to 8 , generic x86 support and Cores 2 and up optimization
Almost everything is supported which you can insert inside or outside PC. Well, of course it is restricted to what this kernel supports.
Ice Puppy-014 uses kernel pet linux_kernel-2.6.38-4-lupe24.pet.Just notice if someone wants to test it with woof kernel switching.

Iso size 235 Mb. I know, it is big, but it has most apps I need. I have enabled so much modules, that I dont understand if something is still missing.

Usb booting needs to tested. I had succesful boot with kernel parameter pmedia=ataflash or left it even out. I have managed to usbboot without pmedia parameter.
Please try traditional pmedia=usbflash or pmedia=usbhd or even as I, pmedia=ataflash or without pmedia parameter. I hope that pdev1 is soon history.

This release is for adventurous testers and hopeful downloaders. Seems to work for me, but you wont get your money back, if this does not work. Oh well, we were in gpl world, no fee or money accepted.

Use it, test it or forget it.......

When testing, use fresh install. No savefile loaded. Previous versions probably are not compatible. Remember that build changes all the time in this RHE state.
Check the md5sum as always. Otherwise you wont get granted pizza.
Test usb booting with pmedia=usbflash, pmedia=usbhd or even pmedia=hddflash (as I did, I am not used to usb booting atm so bear my clumsy suggestions)

Sorry, I got electric cut off just before when the upload was finished. Light blinked for couple of seconds.The router resetted the connection and I decided to reupload it. The upload was finished or almost finished, but I wasnt sure. Sorry. Reuploading now.... Reupload finished.

I pressed the submit button for the forum post when there was about 98 % uploaded. Lol.

I downloaded the lupu-001-SCSI.iso,lupu_devx_001.sfs,and
kernel_src-2.6.38.2-lupe6.sfs.
I installed to a 4 gb flash drive and on first reboot had it save to
the flash drive.
After a couple of reboots and installing the devx and kernel source
sfs I installed the ati-driver-installer-11-3-x86.x86_64.run, it gave
errors but after doing "aticonfig --initial" and entering xwin it got
back to the desktop at the correct screen resolution 1600x900.
Glxgears gives errors and won't run, neither will nexuiz so no
hardware acceleration.

Billtoo. You have atleast one attachment to the virtual pizza. Not sure if wireless resetting is bug yet. Do you use frisbee for connection ?
I havent saved or rebooted yet. Still using unsaved first install.

I used the network manager to set up the wireless on my laptop.

I made another icepup install on another 4 gb flash drive to try out
on my Acer desktop, this time I had it save to a file on first reboot
instead of the flash drive.

Just did a manual frugal install of Ice Puppy 001 on my old P3 test box w/ onboard Intel everything. Real simple report, everything was working and correct on initial boot and persistent after making a save file and rebooting. No problems.

The Very Good news is that the script could get what screens
I use so that worked well and I got internet on LAN automatically
which the older latest try failed.

The Very bad news.
It failed to allow Fan to start it says No Fan
and Temperature of CPU was 0 as in Zero

So I had to shut it down to not risk overheating of my best little computer.

Another bad news was showing wmv video clip that was less good than on Snow5
The picture got messed up. Sound was good.
Maybe thatI had not chosen right graphics or something.

But what to expect from a totally new take on the latest kernel. So many things that can go wrong.

Did a FRUGAL install and activated my application/setup environment.
Apart that all of a sudden my save file went to 0MB in seconds (solved the issue) all is working well up to now.

The good news is that keucr.ko is indeed present and so the SDHC card is shown as a drive (i.e., ENE Tech card reader is present).

The bad news is that for me like for nooby the fan is not working and so I won't be able to migrate to Ice Puppy until a workaround/fix can be found. I tried by downloading and trying to load vattery but couldn't get it to run.

A flaw there?

But did you run HardInfo and did you look at the sensors?
How is the temperature?

Acerhdf is Acer Aspire One fan control module. It wasnt compiled in. I couldnt find it when I compiled the kernel. But there is somewhere the option. I can find sources to compile it. Just need more searching.
The laptop support is quite separated and is not easy to find all the support for different platforms.

Edit. I found the reason. Thermal support does not work. I have missed some dependent module or enabled option. When acpi thermal information is not enabled, the acerhdf option is not found.
That is my conclusion right now with help of Iguleder in irc.
Let`s see. I will start new compiling session.

Thank you nooby and myke of your findings. If anyone has found something else amiss, it is good time to report it now. Before I have made new Ice Puppy build.

New woof downloaded. Announced today and kernel also recompiled. I will make first test build with Ice Puppy so that I can test both new woof and new kernel compile.

I found the missing option with thermal monitoring. I got the option to include acerhdf also and it will be build as module also.
