What I see, is when you right click "quite and remove" is highlighted, and so that gets done. You have to hold the right mouse button, for several seconds, then nothing is highlighted, and the menu stays showing.playdayz wrote:Yes, That could be fixed couldn't it. If you right-click and hold you can get the menu, but right-click that should bring up the menu instead brings it up and chooses Quit which is at the bottom. I think that is what is happening.Running live on one box and the frugal on the old P3 and I've already lost Firewallstate on both, as soon as I tried to right click.
What's the deal with the ugly, space sucking, l242 file on frugal install?

It is long persistent woof bug.
Of course have eliminated in Japanese versions and LupQ.

luci-243 frugal with grub on hd, Gericom laptop.
Installing no problem (as usual).
First run dialog no problem (I really appreciate it
)
Automatic detection of eth0.
Xorg-High-GLX no problem.
To get sound I must run Alsa Wizard. No problem.
If the problem with Cups can be solved, I prefer Dillo. It's really fast.
Thanks to everybody for all
Rolf
Confirm 'Administration Error' when trying to add a printer. With Opera portable it's OK.01micko wrote:Everyone who prints please test!

The meerkat (early development name) logo
which you can see bottom left never really caught on
Luci too was dropped and Larry decided we would continue with
'Puppy Lucid 5.2' as the name
Can we get a logo? I'll see if Afgs is up for it
We have some great Halloween talent but . . .

Mick:
Code: Select all
cp -f /initrd/pup_ro2/usr/sbin/wmswitcher /usr/sbin/wmswitcher

I have also installed your quickpet patch
BUT I will not be installing the Catalyst ATI driver
until I get a browser working with Flash
(I am using the Seamonkey beta as Firefox latest beta
has no comprehensible way of importing bookmarks - they want
to control/provide your bookmarks in the cloud - no thanks
- nobody must know of my sardine fetish to target/market me with sardine flavoured crisps)

Tahr Pup 6 on desktop, Lucid 3HD on lappie
Installed 243 on Intel PC. First frugal and save with all SFS files worked fine.
It found eth0 immediately. Sound worked.
Installed 243 on Amilo Laptop.
Everything worked out as above.
Found wireless connection wlan at first run. Sound worked just fine.
Everything still OK after save. No red cross on sound icon.
All my previous problems have gone away and I am a happy puppy.
This really seems to be THE 5.2.
Thank you guys for all your effort in making an outstanding Operating envoriment. Bye, bye Windooze!!!
I have learnt a lot during this trip. I am even able to make my own SFS files! But I need some more practice with that.

thanks for the Tatami Iwashi info
Still trying to work out what is happening with browser only being able to stream for 10-20 minutes.
Something similar happened in 5.1.1
and I started using Fatdog
on my return the browsers were working again.
Anyone remember what happened?
When compiled have browsers been puppified?
There is code that is needed if running browsers with Puppy could not find evidence of this - but I am notoriously inept . . .
Also tried changing my cache directory - what else might work?
Are others able to run from DVD and stream video content?
My connection is fast enough - wonder if ISP is capping illegally?

Yes. Dillo is not adequate for printing--it fails on Add a printer.
Please test everything else.

Lobster. Can you give a url for the streaming video.
Except there are somethings that you can watch in the U.K. but not outside.
Can you watch hulu.com for more than 10 minutes?
Please test everything else.

Little Something Extra!
Hmmm... would that little something extra happen to be in Puppy Package Manager... now offering a complete description of each package???
clock settings in 242 &243
just a nit..
The clock in the tray stays in 24 hour mode even after you select 12 hour mode - at least in my 2 PIII laptops.

Xorg-high
@01micko,
Applied your patch for the ATI driver.
When going back to Quick-pet, clicking 'test graphics driver',
It says 'Xorg is installed, but driver isnt working'.
Checking 'Install", it shows the patch & Xorg-High installed.
Also says 'Click on Xorg Help. How and where is that?
Thanx.

Here is a streaming station that goes rogue after 10-20 minutes

Flash cache
Lobster, I see Bigpup came up with the same question I had.
Flash has its own cache settings (privacy, too).
They are accessed via a flash control.

Careful with this; I was fooling with it in 5.11 to try to deny sites from storing cookies to track me, etc. I may have decreased the allowable storage space to zero or something. Whatever it was I did, nothing I could do ever got flash working in Mozilla on that install again. (My ignorance of how to delete the settings as well as forgetting exactly what I did to break it.) I was able to use Chrome, but didn't like it.
Anyway, it doesn't give you the option as to where it stores those files. The default of 100 Kb per website might not be too big.
It's creepy that Flash is designed to allow websites to access your webcam and microphone, isn't it? It doesn't default to allowing it, but it still creeps me out. Hence, how I blew up my install!
These 'cookies' are called Local Shared Objects. You can read about the security implications and the default storage paths here:

Yes. Openbox has dclock and tclock. tclock can be switched to 12 hour *but* the color cannot be changed. In dclock the color can be changed but not switched to 12 hour. It is a bit frustrating. dclock is the one currently enabled. The clock in the tray stays in 24 hour mode even after you select 12 hour mode - at least in my 2 PIII laptops.
