Well, if it's a security conference, none of the people who obtained those usb drives should have been dumb enough to blindly plug them into a Windows computer with autorun enabled.
Personally, I would be expecting something like that to happen as a joke to keep everybody on their toes. As my buddy Mad-Eye Moody always said, "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!"

Now let us be nice. After all, Barry K. is an ausey also!
And after running various versions of Puppy linux for 10 years+ I have never had a PC infection I can attribute to Puppy.
That includes plugging in a USB picture card that had a built in virus!
My virus checker in windows caught it.
Puppy did not allow it the base it needed to execute.

Autorun STILL the WIndows default
What's amazing is that after all these years Autorun is STILL the WIndows default for USBs, CDs, DVDs, etc. MS picks ease-of-use over security every time..... still.

Re: Autorun STILL the WIndows default
What is even more amazing is how hard it is to turn it off for everything (Windows has a tendency to forget that you had turned it off, also).benali72 wrote:What's amazing is that after all these years Autorun is STILL the WIndows default for USBs, CDs, DVDs, etc. MS picks ease-of-use over security every time..... still.
