The above pet I included /root/.gPlanarity which remembers the resize state, so I resized the window a bit larger and added the settings to the pet :) I'm only guessing on the resize but if you were to do it on Dpup to a window size that works then it should be good. Who knows maybe I guessed it, lol
I don't have any size issue with 2.14X, could be a Xorg window issue.

Your DNS servers aren't listed in resolv.conf, for some reason, only router broadcast. Add your DNS servers and I bet it works.

Hi gposil do you have to resize it each time? or does it remember, If it does remember then just add your /root/.gPlanarity hidden folder to the pet and you should be good, If not then for some reason gPlanarity isn't reading its config files in root. hmmm also you might want to make sure you don't have a gPlanarity in usr/local/bin, the one I made is in usr/bin, if you have one in usr/local/bin maybe that one is messed up and needs to be deleted before installing the one I made up and also maybe delete your /root/.gPlanarity folder before installing the pet package.

Have to resize each start...there is no window size or placement data saved in /root/.gplanarity, only game score info.

Hi gposil I think its the
vertex 670 300 729 315 0
vertex 535 534 656 246 0
vertex 265 534 278 332 0
vertex 130 300 418 405 0
vertex 265 66 324 81 0
vertex 535 66 594 81 0
numbers, because when I resize it on 2.14x and close the app, not only does it go back to the size I enlarged it to, it also goes back to same screen location to where I moved it, but If I delete the hidden folder it reverts back to the default size and location, so it has to be that folder has the custom sizes and locations saved too.

gposil wrote:DaveS,

It appears the prob you are having is a well known problem with some 965 intel chipsets...could you change the Firefox theme to default and see if there is any change...it has been reported that certain Firefox themes display this glitch...

The apparent fix for all the other reports seems to be to upgrade Xorg, or don't use the themes that do it(not really acceptable).

Could you report on the theme change whether it fixes the screen tearing artifacts etc...

Cheers
Guy
Default theme is ok, others not so much.

gposil,

I checked the resolv.conf files in the other 8 Puppy installs on this box and the one I posted is identical to all the others. I'll play with it tomorrow morning, but I don't think that is my problem.

Thanks for the help and I'm open for any other suggestions.... :)

Pwireless 2 in 484b2

#271 Post by Béèm »

Regularly the connection cuts and pwireless 2 is requiring a new IP (I see this in the message on the top of the screen)

I didn't have this connection loss in 482b5 nor in any other version of puppy.

I have this on my 2 machines, the Thinkpad R40 and the Medion MD8818

Anyone else having this issue?

Pmirror and 484b2

#272 Post by Béèm »

In 484p2 I started to try out and use it more regularly.

The first tests went fine.
I do a simulation first and then a real run.

Now all of a sudden, when I do the simulation run, I get the info of which files are to be replaced, added etc.. So far so good.
When I then start the real run, I don't get that window anymore, but I see the activity is there.
When I check the target directory, I see that indeed files have new dates.
As I don't have the activity window and thus not the statistics, I only can hope the mirroring has been done correctly.
Kinda scaring.

Anyone having this issue or an idea?

Don't know eithe if this is the good place to discuss this pmirror issue.

I see that happening on 484 beta2 with patches, which I'm still using on my lappie, have not had time to do much testing on beta 3 yet. At this point I'm just happy it reacquires the IP by itself.

Regarding beta3 though, the wbar tray icon is a nice touch. :-)

dpup484b3

#277 Post by Béèm »

Yes, the usual place, tubeguy

Installed on my laptop, but rox don't work.
Complains about a lookup in a library.
Maybe I did a bad install, have to investigate.

Will try on the desktop first.

@gospil,

Can a saved dpup484b2 save file be used now in beta 3?
Would make my life easier.

i have used beta 3 for a day or 2, however long it has been out, and had no REAL issues. but all i really use is the internet :). pwireless 2 works great for me (though i did prefer the previous tray icon).

i tried the synaptic package and couldn't get that to work. the only place i know where to get that from is the 482beta5 category, i can't find it in "install" from the desktop.

streamit still takes me out of X and to a prompt.

484beta3

#279 Post by upnorth »

I just downloaded and burned 484beta3. I'm currently running it off cdrom on 10 year old computer: 466mhz 256ram ath5k wireless I used the pfix=ram boot option.

Performance, aesthetics, and stability are pretty impressive. Your work is much appreciated! Thanks.

I manually copied the files to my hard drive for a frugal setup and will
test more.

This happens when you have a weak or flaky connection. Every time the connection drops, wpa_supplicant tells dhcpcd that the interface is down. There is a work around to tell dhcpcd to ignore those messages. You need to edit /etc/dhcpcd.conf and add to the end

Code: Select all

interface wlan0
nolink
Replace wlan0 with then name of your actual wireless interface. I'll probably add this option to the gui in the next version.
