Acessing windows files is no problem at all.
First, you need to mount the windows partition. Icons of your partitions are listed at left-bottom of desktop. Click on the windows partition to mount it. The mounted file-system is found in /mnt/*.
Now it's time to add music directories in the Pmusic 'update index' dialog. You'll find it via the file-menu.

I've made a check here by indexing music from both my NTFS and VFAT (fat32) partitons. Both indexed just fine.......?????......smartpal wrote:I've added the folder and waited a long time as well but no music has been added. The music directory has a lot of subdirectories. Am I doing something wrong?
- What filesystem do you have?
- Could it be a problem with file-naming conventions. Can you test one single file with only native english chars? (also in path)
- Are your filesystem in shape?
- ..... ?

Pmusic Pwidgets plugin...?
Hello!
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, and my apologies if I am blind and missed it...but....Question!
Is there a way in Pmusic to have the program display a COUNTDOWN of the song timer as opposed to a count from 0:00 to the end of the song?
As in, if I have a song that is 4:00 minutes long, it will count down from 4:00 until the song is done? I don't have all the song lengths of every MP3 I own memorized, and sometimes it's nice to know how much time is left in a song rather than how long it's been playing for
I couldn't find a setting for it in Pmusic, but I was also thinking, wouldn't there be a not-too-complex way to modify the Pmusic plugin for Pwidgets to do this as well? I'm no coder, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult?
Thanks! Also, please don't take this post as me forcefully asking for features! I was just curious?

The answer is easy. Yes, it is of course possible to countdown instead of countup
The reason why this is not included is because the time-calculation is one of the most cpu-consuming modules in Pmusic. - I have worked a lot here to shrink it to a minimum, so adding new feature would be 'critical'.

I'm running the latest Pmusic on NOP431. When I run Pmusic, open the manager window and play a song, after a few seconds, Pmusic closes.
I've started Pmusic from terminal and I've included what what appears:
sh-3.00# pmusic
/usr/local/bin/pmusic: line 3: 16126 Killed "/usr/local/pmusic/pmusic" "$@"
sh-3.00# sh: line 1: 16247 Killed nice -18 $APPDIR/func_progressbar
cat: /root/.pmusic/tmp/lyrics_song: No such file or directory
(gtkdialog3:16445): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_text_buffer_set_text: assertion `text != NULL' failed
EXIT="Ready"
grep: /usr/local/pmusic/themes/No theme/themerc: No such file or directory
grep: /usr/local/pmusic/themes/No theme/themerc: No such file or directory
grep: /usr/local/pmusic/themes/No theme/themerc: No such file or directory
gtkdialog3: pthread_mutex_lock.c:87: __pthread_mutex_lock: Assertion `mutex->__data.__owner == 0' failed.
/usr/local/pmusic/pmusic: line 184: 16445 Aborted $GTKDIALOG -p Pmusic -G +"$X"+"$Y"
Can anyone help with this and tell me what I need or what I'm doing wrong?

Zigbert, Sir.....Thank You!! Pmusic really fits the "light and sweet" mantra. I was not impressed with aqualung as it always was slow to load my 30k song "music store" at startup. Now that I spent the time to figure out the indexing setup of Pmusic, I have to say you are really on to something here.
The only thing I would suggest is maybe a brief "docs and tips" help section for someone not "up to speed" on the user interface. That maybe would have kept me from trying to load my 30k playlist (which now I know is *not* the way to use Pmusic).
A couple of other suggestions:
1. Perhaps a bit-rate column on the left wing. If I have a duplicate of a song, it would make it easier to select the higher bit-rate version.
or...
2. Tool Tip the song meta info on mouse over.
This is now my default music player. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely right about the help.... Pmusic does NOT work as winamp. The reason for making Pmusic was simply because I couldn't find a 'not-huge' player that managed my collection smoothly. But, it must be said, - Pmusic has its own limitations...
There should be a help-file, - I know, I know.... I'm just not that good in english, so it takes a lot of time. If you or anyone else want to help here, please step in......
The bitrate column is a good idea. I will consider it when (if) I start working on the next major release. At this stage, Pmusic 1.0 is the target, and that means bugfixing ONLY...... and hopefully a help-file

Sigmund, Well...How about this....
Seeing as this is your project, You more than anyone else would best know "what" needs to be said. And how things work.
As for "how" to say it. I would be *more* than willing to tweak the initial/rough draft for proper and clear english.
Or perhaps, We could even try using a online translation of your document if you did it in your native language. I would think once I get the idea of what you want to say, I could then work out how to properly say it.
When I am done, I would send it back for your peer review and revision suggestions.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

Great offer - thank you!!!!
I think you as a user has a better view-point to the help-issues than me. I have no problem with navigating Pmusic
. What if you pick the questions, - I explain, - you put it all together. Then we have at least a faq, and it would help, without writing a complete manual. Most users know how to use the basics of a music player, but when it comes to the unique Pmusic stuff, it would be great to offer some guidance. Pmusic looks like a small player, but don't let the outfit fool you
