SuperTuxKart runs slow in 4.1.2 install

#1 Post by SpideyLinux69 »

I just acquired this system with No OS. I have been working for only a couple of months with Puppy.

I have installed v 4.1.2 to the hard drive and most tasks seem to be performing well. Full install, booting with GRUB. Puppy is the only OS on the computer. However, SuperTuxKart is running VERY slow.

I must not understand the required libraries or system configuration described in the post.

In order to run SuperTux, I believe I installed the OPEN GL support and SDL libraries described. I followed a link to download a PET for 3-D acceleration. Any hints or help would be appreciated.

thank you

Have you tried my version that doesn't use open Gl, just use the sdl libs provided on the page, basically uninstall what you have and try this one, It might workout for you, Plays fine on my system without opengl.

What graphics card does the Dell use?
Even if internal you may need drivers for it. :)

I have done some digging and may have given some erroneous information on my last post.

I believe that 3d acceleration is not running. When using the 'glxinfo' command in terminal, the third line returns 'direct rendering: No'

Looking at the card without pulling shows it to be an nVidia Quadro 4. The 'glxinfo' command identifies it as NV25GL Quadro4 7000XGL.

I am guessing these are signs that I need a specific driver to get this going.

Using 4.1.2 (retro) (Macpup Foxy)

I have not tried your version yet ttuxx, I will if I can't get the 3d acceleration going.
