PET-Be-Gone for Puppy 3.x [SOLVED]

#1 Post by Vettephil »

I've searched high (Puppy Google Search) and low (Forum Search) but cannot locate the 0pkgs_db-3.0.0.pet file.

PET-Be-Gone is returning the following message:
ERROR: /root/.packages/unleashed/seamonkey-1.1.2.files does not exist. Maybe
0pkgs_db-3.0.0.pet isn't installed?

Can anyone provide a link?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks... I'll have to upgrade to 3.01 to take advantage of it. I'm on 3.00 Retro.

maybe not since they are pretty close....I think that pakage should work all that is different is the kernel and a few binaries like dhcpd and maybe a few bugfixes in scripts ect....

also if you want a program you remove to really leave ram you have to remaster the cd if you don't do that then it is still in ram only "invisible"

There does seem to be a difference... PET-Be-Gone is erroring out with:
ERROR: /root/.packages/unleashed/seamonkey-1.1.2.files does not exist. Maybe 0pkgs_db-3.0.0.pet isn't installed?

I have no problem upgrading to get the bug fixes anyway. I'm also running from a full HD install, so my understanding is that the program files will in fact be deleted. If this is false, please advise. Thanks!

The only things that will make a difference are new files (or files in different locations), and changed version numbers. In this case, it looks like the version number for Seamonkey changed from 1.1.2 to 1.1.2-1. If you went into /root/.packages/unleashed and renamed seamonkey-1.1.2-1.files to seamonkey-1.1.2.files, it might fix things. But there's still going to be a chance that a couple files might be missed.

But be careful about using it on a critical system though. Make sure you back up both /root/.packages/packages.txt and /root/.packages/livepackages.txt. Then if you get the dreaded XDOG (Xdialog Dialog of Grumbling), you can repair it by replacing those files.
