Sound not on at start using AC 97-snd-atiixp

#1 Post by Rhino »

Hi guys,

In the past few releases of Puppy, my sound has not started automatically. I think it did at one point, can't remember. Nevertheless, Puppy seems to find my sound card just fine, sound is just not on. So everytime I start, I just go through the alsaconf and hit enter a few times and sound works. I then restart jwm to see my volume control.

Not that this is a real problem, just more of a bug that could probably be squashed to improve puppy for folks that use the same type of card.

I have a Realtek ALC250 using the ac '97 codec.

Here is the output from lsmod and lspci

What commands can I use to start the sound by editing the rc.local?

Thanks in advance,

I have sort of the same problem as you, it seems after you get the sound to work & the sound icon on taskbar it will not save it for the next reboot. Mine is snd-atiixp from what alsa says, I tried modprobe from terminal but doesnt work, also put into rc.local but still a hassle to get sound everytime i need it.

BTW 2.11 had no problems with sound.

It is not the disk because I tried it on a gateway desktop & it worked fine.

my machine is a laptop, toshiba, is yours a laptop too.
Reason I ask is on an acer laptop does the same thing.....

Hopefully some one will have the solution.
wireless works great though at least mine does, just with mac address no wep/wpa yada yada yada!

Good luck be well
