Which exact computer is this from???

Basically, the base graphics drivers in Slacvko 5.7, do not provide 1280X1024 resolution.

For Intel graphics hardware.
Better if you use a newer Puppy version.
Xenialpup or Bionicpup.

For the computer with Nvidia graphics hardware.
Probably need to install the correct Nvidia manufactures driver package.
The Puppy Package Manager (PPM) should list some Nvidia driver pet packages.
Make sure to get it from the Slacko repository.
Must get one made for the specific kernel that is in the Slacko 5.7 you have.
Slacko 5.7 was released using several different kernels.
Use this to see what driver Nvidia suggests you need.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

this is worth a try ... see this arch wiki post about adding a new resolution https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xr ... esolutions

summing it up open a terminal and

Code: Select all

cvt 1280X1024
i get
1280x1024 59.89 Hz (CVT 1.31M4) hsync: 63.67 kHz; pclk: 109.00 MHz
Modeline "1280x1024_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027 1034 1063 -hsync +vsync
next you use the output after Modeline to add a new mode (this has to be the output from your computer, the following is an example)

Code: Select all

xrandr --newmode "1280x1024_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027 1034 1063 -hsync +vsync
then try

Code: Select all

xrandr --addmode default 1280x1024_60.00

Code: Select all

xrandr --output default --mode 1280x1024_60.00
see if that works.

The Kernal is 3.4.82

Xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

Ist it true that Slacko 5,7 support latest version of Firefox quantum browser is 57.0.4 ?

I try BionicPup, Slacko 5,7 is a bit old for internet, but still good for music and video.

There is an option now for:

1280x1024_60.00 (0x13c)
12080x1024_60.00 109MHz

But nothing is happen wenn I select them.

File I have added and copied it in Script
root/Startup/Script

Wenn I Play a Video and Play fullscreen the video is not filled in full of screen.
Gnome or VLC player

Bionicpup can't find SFS file:
Bionicpup64 8 Linux 4.19.23
Waiting for USB storage.... Done
Finding puppy main sfs file. failed

Must puppy_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs in root of HDD ? Yes then its working.
Can I change it to a directory.

Interesting, its also possible to run latest version of Firefox on old Slacko 5.7.

I run library update and update firefox to version 57, then firefox says no more updates avaliable, but I try today and now I can update firefox to 72.0.2! Wow luck by coincidence,

The screen resolution is it not a Driver problem ?
1 Computer als displays 1280.1024 but the program windows are smaller on screen not fullscreen. Firefox as esample still shows in 1024 on a 1280 screen in this case.
