Usually, if one puts mouse over the symbol in tray, a tooltip pops up with status and %. Apparently not in Bionic 32... but yes in Slacko5.7 (and AtomicPup-XIX for netbooks).

gkrellm is a nice tool to add to a Puppy.
Screenshot is my current Fatdog desktop with a gkrellm above the sys-tray (towards the bottom right) - showing the battery and cpu, with 29% battery remaining.
gkrellm supports a wide range of options that can be displayed, many of them are animated - so adds some life to the desktop.
I've themed/positioned that (and most of the desktop icons) to blend in with the desktop wallpaper.

Yah, I'll echo Ian, ruffers; very nice indeed! Just out of curiosity, what theme are you using in gKrellM; it's a bit of a job to make it out, but I'll hazard a guess it's either 'D.A.E.', 'nix' or 'SuedE'. Am I anywhere close?

That earlier image was using the ZixSaw theme Mike.
The one as per the attached image here is using the Cobalt theme (moved my desktop icons around, and added a net traffic monitor near the centre of screen as a second instance of gkrellm). You can set it so each separate gkrellm uses different themes if you prefer that.
As per this post and the one after it http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 78#1028378 I've also added a notification that pops up in a similar blueish colour at the top right of screen upon startup - to remind me to remove the boot usb as I'm now running Fatdog using a Multi-Session usb http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=116147 (so everything is on the usb, including saves, and the usb can be removed once booted, only needing to be reinserted if I want to run another save action). And another script that monitors the battery level and puts up a red coloured notification once the battery level drops below 20%, along with a alert tone (and repeats at 5 minute intervals). Could have used gkrellm or other means to do similar, but prefer using my own script.
Could do with a few more animated gifs to add even more life into the desktop, something like your running dog, but more in keeping with that theme/desktop, such as oscilloscopes/sine waves

nix-gkrellm theme is quite a good fit for my wallpaper
In addition to adding the core and radeon temperatures above the battery power level, I've also added a un-decorated xterm at the top left of screen with a small font that is running htop

See here for Fred's GifOnDesktop stuff. It's how I got my running doggie on the desktop.
It creates a script which, when you're happy with it and have it positioned how you want it, you just stick in /root/Startup so it starts at boot time. You might need to open it up and fine-tune the x & y co-ordinates after it's been created; that was how I got mine in exactly the right place.
Umm; oscilloscopes. Sine waves, etc... GIFs? Ah; something like this, perhaps. In amongst the unrelated dross on this DuckDuckGo search, there's some quite interesting ones....which may be the kinda thing you're looking for..?

giphy.com is another brilliant resource for all things GIF-related.
I find it's easiest to create a wee directory to hold just the GIF images for this, and nothing else. You may also want to 'modify' the GIF images themselves; re-size them, speed 'em up, slow them down, alter colour, brightness, contrast, rotate 'em in different directions, etc....so they're how you want them before creating the scripts. This site will do the lot:-

It's a sight easier, with this kind of thing, to let their servers handle the 'grunt' work than it is to attempt all that stuff yourself on your own machine. There's precious little in the way of GIF-editing software for Linux; I believe you can do some of it in ImageMagick, but the required terminal incantations make my head spin..!
(That script of Fred's, as far as I know you can run as many of these simultaneously as you want, so..... You have some possibilities, there.)
I'd better shut my pie-hole now, or else Flash will haul me over the coals for going way 'off-topic'..!

That battery lightning bolt icon on the tray.
If you hover the mouse pointer over it, it should give you a pop up info.
Try installing this program.

Will need to save if using a save.
Reboot to get Qbat started.
If you right click on the Qbat tray icon there is a settings option in the right click menu.
In settings you can adjust colors used and when you get a low battery warning.

Because I am a newbee to puppy Linux...
1) Which folder or location do I download the Qbat file to?
2) I'm not sure how to install the Qbat program?
I see the Qbat is a .PET file...
.
Just download (save) the Qbat pet file to someplace you can find it.
Navigate in Rox file manager to the location you put it.
Left click on the pet file to install Qbat into Bionicpup.
Make sure to save so Qbat stays installed.
Left click on the desktop save icon to save or let it save on reboot.
Reboot to get Qbat started and working.
Note:

OK .. Qbat is installed however I cannot see the Icon... The battery is installed not sure where to look...
I have BionicPUP32 8.0 installed on a 1GB flash drive...

If Qbat is working should see a battery charge indicator in the right side of the tray.
It gives a constant reading of the battery charge.

This is the problem with software.
What other Puppy versions, will it also work in, with no issues.
Bionicpup32 8.0 may not have all needed dependencies.

Looks like qbat is in startup... However I get an error with the terminal..
Maybe I should rebuild another flash drive with Xenialpup 7.5.
At the moment BionicPUP32 8.0 with pale Moon browser works great on the Internet...

Qbat (as the name suggests) depends on Qt libraries
That version is asking for Qt5 libraries which recent versions require
BionicPup32 does not have any Qt libraries included
XenialPup has some Qt4 libraries but not Qt5 as far as I know
Makes it a little strange why that package is available in that form.
Obviously you can install Qt5 libraries (via PPM or .deb packages).
Seems like overkill to install such large packages just for a battery indicator but personal choice I suppose. In addition to libQt5Widgets it will probably ask you to install libQt5Core and libQt5Gui and maybe some others.

I would uninstall the Qbat however it doesn't show up on the package manager...
