corepup

but only one (yours) is used
your firefox just uses the other firefox dependencies
Ok, have it your way of course, but I'd say it's a waste of space having 2 firefox installs.
I think only gtk3 tcz needs installed for the portable to work.
Probably upupbb has gtk3 so that's the reason why the portable-firefox works on upupbb.

hi darry
yes
i am playing with fredx firefox for now
but my long term goal is to have a script or set of instructions
that will allow applications from various sources
to be made into portable modules for corepup
like s243a and wiak have talked about
it will eventually use just core as a base
but now i use coreplus
because it has wifi and the extra desktops
since i have few skills i will have to ask others to help me
right now my process is
1. obtain a deb sce pet or sfs
2. unzip with uextract in upupbb
3. put in corepup
4. run it and try to figure out the dependencies
after i do this for fredx firefox
i will find other candidates

Hi wanderer, I tested now with fresh install of your corepup-6.
Indeed, only gtk3 may be not enough, I needed to install also dbus-glib.tcz, then the portable-firefox worked for me.
But I had permissions problem, my portable firefox is on /mnt/sda7/firefox and owned by root, so firefox wouldn't start because of no permission to write to the "profile" folder inside.
I fixed this way in terminal: (change ownership to tc)
After that firefox started right away when I clicked on the "ff" script.
Good luck !

chown -R tc:staff /mnt/sda7/firefox

Hi Wanderer,
Have you ever had a look at Tazpup the latest version has a script to download Browsers as you described and to download a full video mutimedia player etc - very similar to what you were talking about.

hi all
this is just a reminder that i am still working on corepup
in fact corepup is a part of the alternate puppy build system
since i am using components from corepup
in my modular puppy build system
since fredx has solved the firefox issue for corepup
it is a pretty complete system
i am working on tc 9 at this time
and will eventually post a corepup 9 iso
until then if you are interested
just download the tc 9 plus iso from either the link on this thread
or the tinycore site
since it is functionally identical
also i will do what was suggested in the alternative system thread
which is to put all important stuff in the first post
so it is easy to keep updated on the project
by just reading the first post
