I got the printbackends from gtk2 (from pup 5.7.1.) and that works for me .
I saw this problem in JudoShiai .

I have a acer 5530 with a running puppy 4.31 on it . But the wireless gives a error . "b43-phyo found unsupported PHY" . It tells the build card is a 4312Lan . The ipc code is 14e4:4315 know as BCM4310 .

I have a Acer 5530 wich will boot Puppy 3/4 wich apci=off .
But its seem to miss a lot of drivers to install all the brigdes and ethernet controllers and wireless .
Has anybody used this machine with Puppy . If so how do I become the drivers for it .

Well in all later version of 1.09 they have put a '-nolisten tcp' command .
This only done for XORG in .xinitrc . This prefend X11 to listen to a tcp/ip network .
Also the host.allow only has local . So you should you local or global network into it . (example ALL: 10.0.0 )

How to export X11 display to another PC?
What I try to do is use another pc to display X11 .
To test that you should be able to do :
export DISPLAY=localhost:0
xclock
This should display xclock on your screen .
I wondered that this only works in puppy 1.09 .
I tried the seam on 2.02/2.14/3.1/4.0 but the all said "cannot connect display ...

Well I saw that You use in smbmount the IP number .
As far I know that doesn't work it should be the machinename .
As far I understand the samba manuals it say the de "service" should be been writen in U(niversal)N(ame)C(ode) text .
For some unknow reasen the cifs doesn't if frugel installetion ...

I got the .pet file running in 3.99 and 4.0 with video .
I had to download new modules for my webcam .
With 2.xx as far I know is cann't work there the libst++ need new variable's .
I think this has to do with the kernel version .

This only a techical way to try to get a lower diskspace .
I find a durty way to findout if a pipe has data yes or no .
But still I have to copy it(the pipe) to a file , I cann't (for now) find a way to do this otherwise .
I used it by linking it to lpr and test it with abi , firefox , numeric and ...

Each of this creates a file . First it copy's the input to xxx.raw .

To print PDF file with PDQ is to do by adding a Language driver :
language_driver PDF {} #do nothing
Add to the filter_exec in the gs call following line :
-dPDFFitPage -dFIXEDMEDIA \

Ther is a text procedure in PDQ but doesn't work with all printer .
A beter way , I think , is todo the same as done in lpshell .
