Hi oldman,
Regarding NetWorx - which is a program for MS Windows - early versions used to work quite well in Puppy with wine, but so far I have been unable to get the latest version (5.2.8.) going in Puppy with wine as it seems to have additional requirements. Version 5.2.7 seems to work but I can ...

How I got Wake On LAN (WOL) working between two Puppies
A number of folk have asked recently about this. There is already material on this forum about WOL and I reference some of it in this post, but at the risk of a bit of repetition I thought that my experience of what I did to get WOL going on a couple of Puppies might also be of interest. It was ...

Wildirish,
I can't help you with the command line .pet uninstall procedure, but am I to understand that you went down this route because the Puppy Installer window was too big to fit on your screen? If so, you can move that window about to gain access to the bits of it that you otherwise can't see ...

Using the bluetooth applet to send files and browse files
Hi Fluppians!
About a week ago I finally downloaded and installed Fluppy 006 on my two ancient laptops (details below), and was immediately impressed by the effortless manner with which it handled my mixed wired/wireless LAN. A quick look around... and it seemed that Fluppy was exactly what I had ...

rameshiyer,
You're quite right: I must confess I never tried that "Open Dropbox Folder" menu option until now as I keep an icon for my Dropbox folder just above the Dropbox tray icon and I routinely click *that* rather than open the Dropbox menu... I'm sorry that my earlier post saying "it worked ...

William,
You make some very good points about the drawbacks of attempting to achieve a cumulative total. The NetWorx solution allows this feature to be turned off, which removes that overhead, but of course that doesn't remove the Wine overhead nor does it deal with the security issue. In the light ...

Two weeks ago I downloaded the generic ("Other LInuxes") softmaker-office-2008.tgz file from the SoftMaker website, clicked it, which brought up Puppy's Xarchiver program, selected all files within it (there were just just two - an installer file called installsmoffice and a big office.tgz ...

@ William,
I have had the same result in Puppy 4.21 as Sylvander has in BoxPup - my system won't shut down using the gui's shutdown command- it just dumps me at the system prompt. I can type xwin there and get back to the desktop, or I can type reboot and the system reboots OK (or I can switch off ...
