Fluppy 013 has been my favourite for ages now. It runs well on my ancient Sony Vaio PCG-FX301 laptop. Aside from the browser limitations due to having only 256 MB of RAM (!) the combination does everything I want, and does it smoothly and beautifully.

A lot of love seems to have gone into Fluppy ...

I have an ancient (2000AD) Dell Latitude CPt S500GT laptop that works fine with a pmcia card type of USB adapter on every Puppy that I've had on this machine (and with Windows XP SP2 for that matter) so it's worth a try.

I obtained a couple of cheap unbranded pmcia/USB cards from Ebay and both ...

Hi folks, I've had issues booting an ext4 partition with grub4dos, and eventually came across this post, which you may find helpful:

I don't know what type of partition Windows 7 runs on, but if it's a 64-bit partition then something other ...

Hi oldman,

Regarding NetWorx - which is a program for MS Windows - early versions used to work quite well in Puppy with wine, but so far I have been unable to get the latest version (5.2.8.) going in Puppy with wine as it seems to have additional requirements. Version 5.2.7 seems to work but I can ...

Wake On LAN (WOL) and Puppy Linux

I don't think that this is quite what is being looked for but maybe it will trigger off an idea or two?

How I got Wake On LAN (WOL) working between two Puppies

A number of folk have asked recently about this. There is already material on this forum about WOL and I reference some of it in this post, but at the risk of a bit of repetition I thought that my experience of what I did to get WOL going on a couple of Puppies might also be of interest. It was ...

Wildirish,

I can't help you with the command line .pet uninstall procedure, but am I to understand that you went down this route because the Puppy Installer window was too big to fit on your screen? If so, you can move that window about to gain access to the bits of it that you otherwise can't see ...

Carlos,

When SeaMonkey semi-disappears, try right-clicking on its top bar and choosing "Unshade." Hopefully your browser window will then reappear.

This is a JWM feature that caught me out frequently when I first started out with Puppy! (My hands shake a bit and I found that if I accidentally ...

I have had this ROX slowdown problem - or a similar one - many times with different Puppies, and tried all sorts of things to fix it. In the end it came down to something rather simple.

I don't know if this will solve dahiyasumit's problem but it's worth a try as it will take only a moment to ...

Using the bluetooth applet to send files and browse files

Hi Fluppians!

About a week ago I finally downloaded and installed Fluppy 006 on my two ancient laptops (details below), and was immediately impressed by the effortless manner with which it handled my mixed wired/wireless LAN. A quick look around... and it seemed that Fluppy was exactly what I had ...

First, thanks for giving us ordinary users the Dropbox dotpet!

I just saw your latest post so I thought I'd pass on the following info in case it helps in any way.

William,

You make some very good points about the drawbacks of attempting to achieve a cumulative total. The NetWorx solution allows this feature to be turned off, which removes that overhead, but of course that doesn't remove the Wine overhead nor does it deal with the security issue. In the light ...

Well, I discovered that the /sbin/poweroff script that puseagemon made, wasn't running because it wasn't executable. Once I made it executable my Puppy 4.21 shut down cleanly.

However, I still wasn't getting /etc/pusagemon/iptablesave made, so the window appeared after shutdown and booting up ...

@ William,

I have had the same result in Puppy 4.21 as Sylvander has in BoxPup - my system won't shut down using the gui's shutdown command- it just dumps me at the system prompt. I can type xwin there and get back to the desktop, or I can type reboot and the system reboots OK (or I can switch off ...

Thanks for the info. Maybe the CPU usage is something to do with the messages that get displayed when running NetWorx/Wine in a terminal - I guess that has to use some power - in which case finding a way to turn off reporting might show an improvement.

EDIT: try changing the relevant line in the ...
