Duplicate CD iso options
It seems that when you use graveman to "Duplicate CD", it first makes an iso file and then writes that file. There are two problems with this. One is that there may not be enough space for the iso file. The other problem is that you might prefer to keep the intermediary iso file. The solut...

Step One is to compile a list of bugs in 1.0.7, known patches, etc. It is not clear to me that amounts to enough to warrant a 1.0.8. If not, if the point of 1.0.8 is to ADD -- well, what?? I think as a group we could maybe manifest a package of fixes, but I don't think we are ready to go beyond that...

buffer under-run protection
All modern CD-RW and DVD burners come with various kinds of buffer under-run protection (burn-proof etc).
Are these features all supported by Linux burning software? By the burning software in Puppy?
Or, is it important to get certain brands etc if you want these features to work?

NEC ND-3540A DVD burner
This site has tediously even more thorough DVD burner reviews: http://cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=14916 Very interesting to learn that even though the retail boxes require PIII-800 or even P4 1.4GHz generally, the official NEC website requires only PII-266 for basic burning....

Ram, I think you should re-consider. Maybe you should stay with the floppy boot! This is the only safe solution! There is no way to do what you want without changing your main hard drive. This has the risk of messing up your Win2000 installation! There is another weird approach to consider. Take out...

What is the best cheap new internal DVD burner to buy for an underpowered dual-boot Win98SE/Puppy system?
I have pretty much settled on the NEC ND-3540A, based on the reviews at cdfreaks, which seem to be the most detailed and technical anywhere:

Yes, I think your laptop is booting USB 1.1. And you have proved that your laptop does have a USB 2.0 port, it seems. And you seem to have proved that the 512MB USB drive can run at 2.0, and can even boot at 2.0, in some circumstances. But that does not actually tell us if your laptop can do a real ...

For larger drives, with your old BIOS, the only way to find out if they work is to try them -- but now you have learned, even if they SEEM to be working, you won't know if they are REALLY working until you have exercised the whole surface! (I think everything bigger than 8GB has to be LBA, but I am ...

OK, you have a 6.8GB drive. It worked with user-defined (manual) C/H/S as 20GB -- until you tried to use the phantom part at the end that does not exist! You just need to set your BIOS to auto-detect, or manually put in the C/H/S from the disk label, or as reported by a good info program. Your 1998 ...
