Crop feature is greyed out in mtPaint 3.44.88 (Solved)
I would like to use the crop feature in mtPaint 3.44.88, but it is greyed out regardless of the format of the image I open (.jpg, .png, .pdf). Is there a trick to enabling the crop feature? Alternatively, is there an application I can download and use with Puppy that will allow me to crop image files?

How to change default viewer for .pdf files?
When I double-click a .png file it will open with Viewnior which is packaged with Tahrpup. I installed Foxit PDF viewer to use with .pdf files and want it as my default .pdf viewer. In my Default Applications Chooser there is no option for Foxit in the drop-down menu for PDF viewer, so I typed in ro...

One, and only one, website constantly crashes
I use the Chromium browser with Tahrpup and have no problems with any website except www.pagepluscellular.com. When I want to check the balance on my phone I am able to load the website for just couple seconds and it crashes leaving this: [/img] This doesn't happen when I log on to that site with my...

I downloaded and installed Foxit reader. (Solved)
I downloaded FoxitReader1.00.0909_Server_x86_enu_Setup.run.tar.gz, extracted it and installed. But I don't see it anywhere in my menu. It's not present in Find'N'Run either.
I like Foxit Reader for Windows and I would like to use it as my default PDF viewer in Puppy.

I need an ad blocker for Puppy Linux. Which one?
I am using Tahrpup with the Chromium browser. Mozilla Firefox, my preferred browser. crashes shortly after launching it for reasons unknown, but that's another post. Some ads auto-launch with sound and if I happen to have my speakers turned up, are very annoying. I use Adblock Plus with Firefox but ...

How to install Adobe Flash player?
When I use my Quickpet Tahr and click on Flash, I get the message Currently, Flash player v11.2.205.508 is installed. This is the latest version available, so you do not need to update it. But often when attempting to watch a movie, I get the message that I need to update it. (See attached.) I did a...

My appreciation for all contributors who reply to posts
I want to give my sincere gratitude to all seasoned Puppy users who reply to posts from us newbies on this forum. I recently asked what I thought was a reasonable question on another Linux user forum (yes, in the newbie section) and was made to feel like a total idiot from the respondents. One reply...

I want to uninstall or deactivate Dropbox in Tahrpup
I downloaded Dropbox using the Quickpet feature, but I didn't log in or create the taskbar shortcut like with Windows. I won't be using it since my Dropbox account is work related, and I won't be accessing Dropbox from my personal laptop that runs Puppy. Still the setup box launches when I boot. Is ...

I performed both operations and continued to have the crash message. I then disabled Shockwave flash which corrected it. So far, I don't miss it. I'm not sure it's really necessary. Is there perhaps a different browser I could use? I tried Pale Moon for a while, but changed to Firefox because Pale M...

frequent crashed message - Adobe Flash using Mozilla Firefox
I'm running Tahrpup on an old IBM Thinkpad and it works fine. However I often get the message "Adobe Flash plugin has crashed..." I usually reload the page but the message comes back shortly or when I go to a new webpage. I attempted to install a new plugin but apparently It didn't make an...

(solved)
Very well. I am not adventuresome enough at this point to try to make 4.4.4 work using the .deb package. I'll wait for the sfs and in the meantime I'll continue to use 4.3 which is adequate.

I installed (I think) LibreOffice 4.4.4 but don't see it
I was able to download and extract LibreOffice 4.4.4 and see the file libreoffice4.4-debian-menus_4.4.4.3_all.deb Which, according to the readme file, is the one I want. Right clicked on it and got the message "Do you want to install this package: clicked yes and got the message installation co...

How do I insert foreign and special characters?
The title says it all. The U.S. cents sign, British pounds sign, Euro, accented letters, etc. Without a number keypad on my laptop there is no way to enter ASCII characters. For that you need an actual number keypad on the keyboard like with a desktop machine. The numbers across the top or a USB num...

Using tahrpup. Previously when I installed a printer I clicked Setup>printer>Manage printers and printing tasks, and the CUPS Printer Wizard would launch. Now nothing happens. I downloaded the .pet files to connect this Samsung SCX-4623F multifunction device. But the printer wizard doesn't launch fr...

How do I access my SD card when uploading a photo?
I have a SD card from my camera connected to a USB port which I see on my deaktop as sdb1. I can open it and view files, and even copy files from this SD card to an external hard drive that I have connected to another USB port. But when I attempt to upload files to my cloud drive, I only see the fol...

SUCCESS!
Yes, the solution was the change the SATA controller in the BIOS from AHCI to compatibility mode. And changing it back resulted in the BSOD. So now I am happily running both Windows XP (which I only need for occasional use of QuickBooks) and Tahrpup on the same old Lenovo ThinkPad. I did notice that...
