Progress, but not there yet
jcoder, Thank you for your help. I downloaded the kernel source files and tried again. This time it does do a config, but has an error as per this screenshot. When I try to use the puppy internet connection to dial out, it finds the modem, but has an input/output error. Oh, linuxant has also wrecked...

To encourage someone to post
Seems all is very quiet. . . I have made some progress since my first post, but still no working modem. Here is what I have done and where I am (All downloads done, as explained in my first post, in PCLinuxOS): I installed dotpuphandler-0.0.4-2.pet, which made it possible for me to install Unrpm.und...

How do I install Linuxant modem drivers in Puppy on ext HDD?
It seems that I have to ask (yet again) for some help. I have a HP/Compaq laptop with a HSF Conexant modem. On the internal hard drive I am running PCLinuxOS, have installed the Linuxant drivers for the modem, and paid my money for unrestricted speed. It works well. They say that this license applie...

Possible Aussie wallpaper for Puppy
I'm using Puppy 3.98 and love the look of the wallpaper. But it looks cold. . . The thought crossed my mind (as an expat Aussie) that an Aussie pic might make a nice change, especially for a dingo! A couple of years ago we took some photos at a lovely little desert in S.A. You can have a look at htt...

Well done!
I've been trying Puppy for a few years now, but could never use it because it wouldn't drive my hp printers. Finally Puppy is a viable os for me!
Congrats to all, especially lluamco.

Solved
Solved! Thanks HairyWill. Your suggestion showed me that the swap partition manager was the culprit. Problem was, when I partitioned the hard disk, I made hda1 the swap partition. Seems Puppy couldn't cope with that. Re-partitioned the hd with hda1 the filesystem and hda2 the swap and all is sweet. ...

2.17 runs fast from CD, SLOWLY after installed (Solved)
I'd appreciate any advice on this one. Hardware is: Toshiba Dynabook 600mhz processor, 128m ram, 12gig HDD - partitioned with 500meg linux swap partition, the rest EXT3. Puppy is installed frugal with Antix (Lightweight Mepis). Puppy live CD runs perfectly and quickly. Monitor on taskbar correctly s...

Oh well
Thanks purple_ghost. I have used Xubuntu which prints straight out of the box, and I am going to try Beatrix soon. But I was hoping that Puppy would do the trick as in every other way it's my preferred distro. I'm using 2.15CE as I fondly hoped that someone may have got the printing right in it, but...

Still no sucess
Trapster: I downloaded the cups pup file and installed it. It found the ppd file for HP4100 series printers that I had previously had made and saved in /root - all was well. After cups installed I got the nice pup message telling me how to install a new printer using the Seamonkey interface. I follo...

How do I get my HP printers to work?
Iv'e been trying puppy for the last couple of years, and love the concept and the presentation. The only thing that stops me from using it as my default os is its printer support (or lack thereof). So finally, in frustration, here I am posting on the forum. I have two HP printers, a PSC1510 and a De...
