Thank you all, very good links and reading.

I probably will just leave it, I just wanted to make sure I was up to date but as the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

How to update the kernel in BionicPup 8?

Hi

I may be being completely stupid but I cannot find an easy way to update the Linux kernel. I am on a full install of Puppy but don't know how to find the right kernel or how I should install it?

Alternately you could drag the /usr/bin/ caja binary to your desktop and start it from there. In addition I would grab emelFM2 for a file manager as per the recommendation by ozsouth. Added emelFM2, thank you. Will have another go at Caja now. EDIT - That worked straight off, thank you so much!

Howdy Kyle! With ROX it's good to have two directories open when shuffling files. Symlinks are simply a matter of drag'n drop, "Link (relative)." It gets easier... Otherwise, most here will suggest Xfe or PCManFM. Not many references to Worker. It's all about your habits and what feels co...

Is there an alternative file manager to Rox? (Solved)

Hi

Is there a lightweight alternative file manager to Rox-Filer please? I don't know how use it easily and I cannot even seem to master basic searches?

Also I cannot work out how to symlink things? (I usually use Linux Mint so this is a massive learning curve for me)

Thank you both, it is much appreciated - everything seems to be working now, but I will keep this page bookmarked just in case.

Still can't fix my VLC issue but have posted in the right place I think.

Thank you loads!

VLC not starting

Hi So many thanks to Fabrice_035 I now have network shares running but I cannot start VLC from the main menu. If I run VLC in a terminal, it says it was not meant to be run as root. I have tried the Puppy pet which installs an SFS of VLC and KDenlive but this does not work either. I have tried the S...
