Most interesting... Hmmm... Wouldn't it be nice to be able to fit Puppy on a Microsoft USB? :D You just gotta love the idea of 6-8 weeks for the delivery... :?: I wonder what they'll try to put on the USB that they wouldn't put on a CD... I just ordered mine... I can't wait to reformat it...

Please do. noip - Not the nicest thing I've seen you post... All - I've seen people get offended and start attacking everyone else on here before. My view : This is not the place for that kind of behavior. New visitors and potential new users of Puppy can, and do get turned off at this sort ...

How about my grandmother is dying and we're counting the hours. Will that satisfy you? My mistake for asking questions in this forum. If I need help, I'll go elsewhere. LittleSpooky, I'll start by referring to my last post. Again, I'm still playing catch-up with the thread. Your mistake wasn't aski...

One can't run Winblows on a Smackinsquash (Mac). Those are the computers at work (environment), and those are irrelavent. As for the problem she was having at home, once again, irrelavent in terms of the question I asked. When I was asking about compatibility, I meant JUST THAT. Can you run Adobe C...

Babbs, Yes, when I see questions like this, I see how things can go wrong very quickly and the end user just throws up their hands and abandons Linux. Novell did a survey recently about which programs people would like to see ported to Linux - I think Photoshop came out on top, or amongst the top t...

yomer,

Is your USB port USB 1.1 or USB 2.0? I experienced what you described when I only had 1.1 ports. Things seemed to take forever, then sometimes didn't work right...

My boss used to tease me about this distro being called Puppy... He used to say, "Do they call it puppy because it can't run with the big dogs?" My response was always along the lines of try it and see for yourself... After three versions of Puppy, he finally gave in and tried 1.0.7. Since...

Hi Fox, I have an HP Pavalion which has an ESS internal modem. As I've posted numerous times, ESS will never work with any flavor of Linux. Although I must admit that I didn't even think about using an external modem via USB, I sought the advice of "MarvS" of linmodems.org as to which mode...

Anyone visit the DSL "Off Site" page lately?

I just noticed that the Damn Small Linux web site's "Off Site" page (links) includes a link to Puppy Linux with the original goosee.com URL at http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/off-site.html Two thoughts: - Do we/should we have a link to them too? - Who would be the right person to contact the...

USB Thumb Drive Prices Dropping

Ok, two things up front... I know I overstated the obvious in the subject, and I'm not intending this to be considered spam. ( I have never ordered from these guys , but I've heard pretty good things about them. I must also point out that I have no connections or financial interest in this company ....

JustGreg,

Very nicely done again.

I preserved your post here on the wiki at: http://puppylinux.org/wikka/USBBoot
Once you are comfortable with the wiki editing, I'll transfer page ownership to you (presently only you and I can make changes to it).

My vote: "some other option" I have two partitions dedicated to Puppy. In them, I install (type two hard drive install) the two most recent versions. Presently, I have 1.0.6 and 1.0.7. My 1.0.5 partition became 1.0.7, and like wise, my 1.0.6 partition will become 1.0.8 sometime between tom...

Puppy Package Manager System - Status/Update As mentioned two posts above, the code for the program that I've been hacking to use for the online Puppy Package Manager System (PPMS) is overly complex (much more so than needed).
