There's no ACAD equivalent (yet) but some programs which may do the job for you:

QCAD is a 2D program and uses DXF2000 as it's native file format. The user interface is pretty close to ACAD

BRL-CAD is a pretty amazing CAD program and has good support: US military.

The config is saved in the pup-save file on the HDD unless you write it to the flash drive.. As it them won't be found on boot Puppy believes it's a new thing and you have the same boot menu as the first time you ran puppy on the original PC.

Re: ISO burning

That really surprises me... I'm using K3B exclusively since at least 5 years to burn CD's/DVD's and it always worked like a champ (in SuSE).

Gerry, with K3B it's actually hard to make a mistake.. If you open Konqueror, navigate to the iso file and click on it K3B will automatically burn it correctly. Have you set your burn speed to a max of 1/2 your drive supports? Some CD's are difficult to write in Auto. Have you checked the box for ve...

Ian,

on boot Puppy scans all hard drives for the save file. If it finds one it uses it unless you specify during boot not to do so.
Once it has found one it uses it and won't ask you on shut-down.

sorry, you didn't mention it and forgot the version too but unless you run a very old one which I don't have: there's an icon in the top left named drives. click it ONCE! What you will see is a list of the drives on your PC and everything hd_ is a drive. Behind it is a small box which says mount. If...

you can't access winDOS, only the files/file system.

You have to mount the harddrive first, then you have access to it.

torsmo doesn't seem to be maintained any more (last release is stone age). It looks like somebody else continues to maintain and improve it under the name Conky (but the same pleasure to get it running too). See sourceforge....

I always tape or staple all stuff together. So far everything I mailed in was honored. Latest "treat" was a 1GB USB FLASH for Puppy at $3.95 incl shipping.... The Samsung MFP had a pretty steep rebate ($100) so I made sure that I got it right. The driver has a bug in the settings for netwo...

Ian, the drivers for CD and DVD drives are included in Linux as they are pretty standard and I have a Benq on one of my machines which reports to be a NEC so it may just be a rebranded OEM thing (who buys from whom?). The truth may be that they don't care about a 15% business (that's the realistic v...

As a clear answer: download puppy-2.14-seamonkey-fulldrivers.iso and look at puppy-2.14-seamonkey-fulldrivers.iso.md5.txt. If your CD burning software supports it the MD5 sum (in the txt file) has to be shown. Make sure you burn the ISO as an iso (it's the disk image). All other files are optional a...

I had a Canon for a long time and refilled it all the time with non-Canon ink (much cheaper). It died a non-natural death by falling of the desk. Replaced it with a Samsung SCX-4521F laser as they have Linux drivers. Closed binary blob but at least working.. Refilled twice with non-Samsung toner whi...

Lobster, it isn't dangerous in terms of external intrusion. There are 3 scenarios I can see a user account method to have advantages: - prevention of accidental modification of something crucial w/o warning (pop-up to enter password) - a PC is used by several people with a HDD or frugal install - on...
