I have been running an access control system on a xp guest from puppy using Virtual Box for a number of years now.

Load devx for your version
Load kernel souces for your kernel
to find kernel version, in terminal [ uname -r ]
Download the latest .run version from VitualBox not OSE.
in terminal [ adduser -D -H vboxusers ]
run the VBox.run.
That should do it.
Good luck
Depending on your version you may have to ...

#dmesg | grep dvb will give some different useful information. Please post that.
I am unclear whether your device is loading the firmware.
You may not have a problem at all but just don't know the next step.

Hi Joe, checked out the package tools that you posted.
So it's
1. Unpack a tgz package with 'unzipper_dragNdrop5' and then you will have a l directory with all the directories and files to be installed inside .
2 Drag this to 'desc_maker' add your description for the package and it will put the ...

Mouse worked fine after full install.
No sound on the ALC883 but this has always been a problem on this machine.
Am now trying to install the ATI radeon 'catalyst' software which I hope will fix the sound problem.

Was your dvb device plugged in before running the dmesg command?.
If it was then the kernel has no support for dvb

You can use slaxer_pup which is a very solid base to build on.
http://minipc.org/slaxer/
Everything you need for VBox is at that site.(except the latest VBox.run)
The devx and the kernel sources can be installed directly.
Any problems Big_Bass is very helpful.
Also you can use the ...

That was the one I was referring to.
The VBox install log is helpful.
Go vanilla and get it working might be a good approach. Then go back and have another go on lupu.

You will need the correct devx and kernel sources for your puppy version.
For lupu there is no kernel sources at this point.
There is a "wary kernel sources" for the same kernel but there is a disparity in the gcc version that it was compiled on and it doesn't work with VBox in lupu.
So if you would ...
